Why is Blake Lively so overrated?

It seems all these aging washed up actresses and models want to create aspirational lifestyle brands like Selena Gomez and Jessica Alba to grift Wall Street billions. To do that you need to be very charismatic and likable, which is a struggle for some…

She can be all those things and still not deserve to be sexually harassed at work, though. I agree that she comes off as a bit bratty and tone deaf, and I wouldn’t buy her alcohol and haircare products because I don’t find her particularly aspirational. I even agree that she could have done a better job being sensitive while marketing It Ends With Us, even though the marketing plan was to emphasize the hope and resilience of her character (although given the context we now have, I get why she wasn’t doing her best work).

But the behavior she’s describing in the complaint is still totally unacceptable! If it’s true that Baldoni orchestrated a smear campaign to preemptively discredit her in case she came forward with the details of the sexual harassment that she dealt with (and the PR texts are pretty awful), that is absolutely disgusting behavior and should absolutely be called out and litigated.

Just say you hate women. Are you a man who knows these women would never give you the time of day? Or are you just a woman insanely jealous of better looking richer women?

You are obviously one of Ms. Nathan's paid trolls.

"Ms. Nathan soon floated proposals to hire contractors to dominate social media through “full social account take downs,” by starting “threads of theories” and generally working to “change narrative.”

“All of this will be most importantly untraceable,” she wrote.

The tone of this post is wrong - “aging washed up actresses” etc. But, these older actresses are seeing there aren’t as much opportunity for them as they get older, it’s better to be a boss and create opportunities for themselves, and alternative passive sources of income are good. Nothing wrong with that. I agree the rest of this. People have to like the celeb, or they have to have an outstanding product, for them to support these celebrity brands. Few of the products are outstanding…

Thank you?! I don't understand what that previous poster is trying to do. Justin is still in the wrong and it's fantastic she blew the lid off how these PR agents were running things. I want to be specific and say we are all aware Blake uses PR too. Thats not the issue. Use PR to defend yourself and make yourself look good. Not smear another person because they reported you to HR

That PP is so obvious about it. Claims to know nothing about any of this then rattles off the smear campaign talking points.

Can you explain more about that? I came here to ask the same question about how they were able to obtain the texts? I'm just not sure I understand, how can they get those through discovery?

It’s covered in the NYT article.

You’re gaslighting. Look, most of the public, including me, has no freaking clue who that producer actor man is. Most of the public never saw this movie they were in together. And yet, most of the public simply dislikes Blake Lively. People can think for themselves. People trust their gut and instincts. She simply doesn’t seem like a nice person, she can’t act to save her life, and she’s been shoved in our faces for 20 years as this supposed it girl. It all feels extremely fake, like she benefitted from a lot of insider help. And this new scorched earth victim campaign pivot as she approaches 40 years old isn’t going to change anyone’s mind about her. Hollywood is a sleazy place and the public simply doesn’t care. In case you weren’t aware, normal Americans can’t afford groceries right now and their student loans have to be repaid. Nobody gives a damn about some filthy rich arrogant actress. And it obviously doesn’t help that she and her husband are also obnoxious common opportunists.

I don't know who that man is either but I read the complaint and boy does he sound like an ass! Maybe you should read it too. I only read the first sentence of your blah blah desperate to change the narrative post. Stay trolling.

I believe her. This kind of crap used to go on all the time and be ignored, especially when it was done by a "superior" at work.

She's not posh. She went to Burbank high school FFS. My kids are there now and it's mostly blue collar / working class.

If this is how he has treated a woman deemed as "powerful" imagine how many other women he's harassed and gotten away with it before getting called out this way. Other women were probably more successfully "buried" along the way.

Your trolling aside, this IS a big story in terms of the detail it goes into of having one person use a PR agency to completely cancel another person through social media manipulation, whether that is in Hollywood or in local or national politics. We always vaguely know this happens but to see it in print, the texts about intentionally starting threads (and likely post) in forums to manipulate the narrative (which yes, includes DCUM), is horrifying!

That is why the NYT covered this. It is not just about Blake and one sleazebag, but how much millions of people can be controlled in their thinking.

Give me a break. Don’t we have bigger fish to cook these days? Hello, who took over Twitter and helped win an election?
