Don't fly United

Exactly.

United could have offered up $1,350., and someone on that flight would have taken it, and vacated their seat. Easy.

Asians don't want to ever see a United aircraft again. Sad.

Doctor dragged off flight was convicted of trading drugs for sex

What's your point, 5:55? This thread is about what United Airlines did to one of their passengers.

I will never, ever trust United Airlines again with my safety.

Must be why they chose to bump him. More easily defensible when the "victim" has a record.

There's more to the story...that's the point. He also has a history of mental illness and acting out, which explains his noncompliance and acting out.

Let's be real: would you want to fly with a noncompliant belligerent crazy person? Of course not.

Now the entire world knows that guy exchanged drugs for gay sex. You would think he would have known that it was in his best interest to stay under the radar. That just shows you how crazy he is.

This situation was unfortunately compounded when one of the passengers we politely asked to deplane refused, and it became necessary to contact Chicago Aviation Security Officers to help," the letter says. "While I deeply regret this situation arose, I also emphatically stand behind all of you, and I want to commend you for continuing to go above and beyond to ensure we fly right."

After blaming the victim, he is now apologizing again trying to do damage control. I am guessing his executives or the ones who briefed him and suggested the language in the first letter are in de*p shit.

politely asking somebody to deplane is kind of like politely asking them to stick pins in their eyes

Exactly. I can't think of a time when someone was "bumped" after a plane had already boarded. United could have avoided this whole debacle with some proper planning. Why would they wait until the plane had already boarded to decide they needed to get rid of some passengers? Surely there must have been another option for getting the crew back to Louisville, be it on another airline or heck a private car.

This is why no one wanted to take their stupid $800 voucher - once you're on the plane, the amount it's going to cost to get you to volunteer to leave (and I mean the dictionary definition of volunteer, not Uniteds "Volunteer or we're going to re-accommodate your face" definition) goes way way up. $800 before you've gotten on the plane - very likely 4 people would have taken that offer. Once you're on the plane, double it at minimum.

Sounds like the people working the gate and boarding process were incompetent, petty jack@sses from start to finish.

Oh please. The smear campaign is disgusting. United should be ashamed of themselves, and so should the Post.

You all stop flying United. More room for me.

The latest reporting is that the Dr with the conviction was not the guy on the plane but another Dr with a similar name.

This victim here is my hero. He took a righteous stand against the corporate giants. Wish more Americans were able and willing to take that risk.

Further reporting indicates it is the same person.

I really don't care about the doctor's past. They didn't know that when they took him off the plane. Did they?

Way to out yourself as a homophobe, 06:30. The entire post speaks to your lack of character, but that's really the icing on the cake.

There isn't more to the story. It was all caught on video PP. If he was so "belligerent and crazy" then why would they accept him as a paying customer on a plane in the first place?
