| Omg!!. They need to go bankrupt for treating a customer like this. ! |
It was a flight crew that they needed to get in place for the next day. |
Wow. Today's not gonna be a good day for the United PR spokesperson... |
|
Believe me, I do my best not to fly on any American airlines. |
So they should be in the jump seats? |
| This should be illegal. |
| I just flew united this weekend and they were asking for volunteers to give up their seats. The incentive was only $200 and good for one year. In the past I've gotten 300 or 400 from airlines to give up my seat. Thought this was a crappy offer |
Sounds like that perhaps didn't work. Don't know. If someone allegedly does not leave when lawfully ordered to do so, that is concerning. Whether the reaction was reasonable will be left to a jury perhaps. |
| Staff and family flying on passes are never supposed to board until all paying passengers are accommodated. I've noticed this is not being observed. I know the rules and in one case I insisted that a staff person give up their seat. They always take up the first rows in coach and are easy to spot (often in uniform though without tags). Don't be victim to their abuses. |
$200 IS crap because when you use a voucher you have to pay the United price for the ticket, not the hotwire or kayak price. |
Yep! I'm a 100k flyer on United. I've sat next to flight attendants flying for pleasure (sometimes with families) in first class, exit rows and next to them in aisle seats. I'm always somewhat annoyed that they get the best seats. I get that it's a job perk, but still. My job perks are taxed. |
The article said they offered $800. I'm sure now they're wishing they offered more! |
| I have had this happen to me on Delta, they said they overbooked a flight and needed 4 seats and computer "randoMLY" picked my family of 4. We were bumped, even before we got on the plane, and we were checking in early so we weren't the last ones to arrive whatsoever. They offered us a flight 10 hours later. We were in business. Huge argument ensued. I had two small children, so spend 10 extra hours in an international airport with no where to go, then get on a 9 hour flight, hell to the no. After 2 hours of arguing, crying, negotiating, they reluctantly agreed to put us 4, in 2 seats and 2 seats in coach, with NO refund on price difference, they just beat us down, just so we could get on our original flight (why they didn't offer these coach seats to begin with is insane). We get on the flight and are on the runway, i look out my kid's window seat window and see 4 black town cars literally driving on the runway to our plane, people get out, and board our plane. Our seats apparently were for these people. F Delta. |
When I flew with a friend I got $1500 each to spend an extra night in Paris. It was totally worth it. We also got cash instead of a voucher. We just slept in the airport. |
| Isn't this the same airline that wouldn't let the young girls on because of leggings? (I know, I know, special pass rules). Just add it to the list of things wrong with United. |
