That would be Mark Kelly. Navy test pilot, combat pilot who flew assault missions over Iraq during Desert Storm, Astronaut who flew several missions into outer space. No other candidate can meet that level of badass.

A lot of baggage

What kind of baggage? With Gaby Giffords, they gave an incredible story.

As if being an astronaut on the ISS isn’t enough.

Plus— and I love Tim Kaine and think he is great in VA and will 100% vote for him in November— Kaine didn’t connect. He didn’t have the necessary charisma.

Spot on. No “rizz” as the kids say. He got his chance and doesn’t get another one.

That said, why isn’t Mark Warner in the running?

Youngkin would appoint an R to replace him.

Excuse my ignorance, but what baggage does he have? He seems a great choice, but maybe there's something I don't know. He would appeal to the macho white dudes threatened by a woman President.

He also appeals to women who love his devotion to his disabled wife. The only baggage I'm aware of is the fact that unions will not like him. Definitely an issue, in addition to risking his seat.

Progressives won't like him either.

That makes me like him more

Me too!

The fact that there is talk about Progressives (who are Dems) not liking Kelly...wow, just wow. Honestly, what the heck do you all want? A ticket that only appeals to Progressives? You are not representative of the majority of Americans. Just sayin'.

Ha, I get that but a Walz appeals to multiple constituencies, including progressives. He has a knack for threading the needle very well. At least based on what we know so far.

Kelly has ownership in Chinese spy balloon company.

Breaking tonight
Anonymous
Before becoming a senator, Mark Kelly, D-Ariz., was not only an astronaut, but he also co-founded a company that specializes in spy balloons, which was funded, in part, by a venture capitalist in China with close ties to the Chinese Communist Party.

The way the US economy is so embroiled in Chinese-owned companies if you think the stocks and bonds you invest in do not have ties to China....

Even Va Smithfield Ham is owned by the Chinese.

Not a progressive but really enjoying the irony of a Dem on a forum for high-income coastal urban women lecturing anyone else on not being representative of the majority of Americans and having unrealistic candidate expectations. That’s a pretty good one.

Mark Kelly will be her pick. He is also by far the best pick. The GOP is SCARED SHIT of him, rightfully so

Of all the swing states, Trump has by far the biggest lead in Arizona. Plus, senate seat at risk.

Voters voted for a D. There ought to be a law against replacing someone with a replacement from the wrong party, that didn't win.

DP... I don't think the PP's all that wrong. The progressives don't actually have all that much clout or a big following. Sure, they are loud and outspoken but at best they had "The Squad" which only represented what, 2% of Congress? You don't get to boss people around when you're a tiny 2% minority.
