I fear this is actually the attitude in the CO. MCPS GC will treat the IG process as adversarial and deny access to key personnel and documents. The CO seems to think this is just like any other scandal with a short shelf life but in this case they’re mistaken. It’s not going away as easily as the others did. This time, you have our attention. |
CO dgaf what people are saying on DCUM. They might pay attention to a #MeToo protest, but that does not seem to be happening. |
Yeah, seriously! |
What is interesting is that they are not paying attention to the Washington Post, who are not letting go of this story. So little of what happens in Montgomery County politics gets any serious media attention or scrutiny that it is easy to see how they have adopted this attitude. Most BOE and CMs spend their days on social media desperately trying to get any attention to them. This story has gotten more media attention than any MoCo story has received in my memory in the last decade. And the problem for MCPS and the BOE is that it has gotten the attention of the random, checked out county citizen who is now wondering WTF is going on at MCPS. The CO may not fully understand it yet, but they are in trouble. |
Spoke to several people who were present. |
Hearsay, Your Honor! |
So much juicy gossip in this thread though!! Sure, a lot of it is probably made up but it's fun reading all these wacky conspiracy theorieis. |
Most of these posts were made by the same 2 bocce obsessed cranks, that start all these anti-mcps threads. Sure, it's unfortunate this went on during the previous administration's tenure but it will also help them avoid similar issues in the future. |
This would be funny if it weren't so depressing to think about how little will change. |
But the random county citizen has no direct authority over the CO. Our only role is to vote for the members of the BOE, who are woefully underpaid and underresourced and are therefore just puppets of the Superintendent and her staff. |
Doesn’t matter. Most people hardly know the BOE exists and are putting pressure/asking questions of their CMs. The CMs in turn will be looking to reduce the heat on them by looking to pressure the BOE/MCPS directly or even using MSDE to do so, or both. And to be clear, they will only do so reluctantly and only if the heat stays on. Thankfully the Washington Post has no intention of letting this story go. A lot also depends on what the teachers themselves do. A Title IX lawsuit would probably help significantly. |
Previous admin? McKnight resigned already! |
No, these incidents happened before she was super. I get that facts are often inconvenient for your anti-MCPS crusade. |
From what I have seen those Title IX investigations are SLOW. |
The “incident” of Beidleman being promoted happened during McKnight’s time. That is all on her. But if she is gone now then we can all move on. |
