And that is everything you want to know.

He wasn’t going a few miles over. He was going over by 46 miles in a school zone. When you go over by that much, there is little control you exercise on the vehicle.

Even the apologist for the driver who is repeatedly trying project blame on the 4Runner should take note. You may go over by 5-10 mph on city roads and eventually be ok but speeding by so much can only have bad consequences.

Holy crap! 81 MPH? Hard to build a defense against that. And amazing one can get up to that speed on such a road.

If you can’t see the difference between 10 miles over the speed limit and going more than double the speed limit, there is literally no rational conversation to be had here.

My brother was a cop in NJ and he used to say they considered going double the speed limit intent to kill.

Yeah, not a simple 10 mph over. Not even doing 50 in a 35, which is also terrible, IMO.

He was driving more than double the posted speed.

I'd imagine he could have been going faster than that. They said it was 81 mph at the impact.. if he had seen the car and attempted to slow at all, maybe 81 was what the car decreased to

I am one of the people above who said the 4Runner May partly be at fault. 81mph in a school zone is reckless.

I predicted 70 to 90 on this thread based on the damage. I estimated he was already going 30 coming out of the left turn on Sutton.

It's hard to fathom, going that fast on that road. There are not a lot of vehicles or drivers that can react well to lights, pedestrians, and other traffic, going that fast on a local street.

What about punishment for the girl he injured? I hope the prosecutor piles on the charges and that the families sue the hell out of his family.

We’re lucky he didn’t kill more people. The 4Runner likely stopped a worse accident. Grossly negligent. I don’t care how old this Punk is. Complete disregard for life.

Maybe a civil suit in addition. I hope someone is helping the family understand their options.

I will. I’ve had a license 30 years longer than the BMW driver and my driving has never killed, maimed or injured anyone. Let alone killed two 14 year old girls and seriously injured another.

My aunt was killed walking home from school as a child by an impaired driver and I saw the damage it had done and was still doing to my mothers family even 25 years later.

So me. Stone cast.

I have speeding ticket on Blake for doing 50 in a 35

It’s easy when the panel vans and UHauls are all doing 45 to 50 and you are just keeping up with traffic

81 is another story all together

OMG. I thought the “80 mph” was hyperbole and it was more like 55-60. Who does that? That’s wanton disregard for human life. I hope he serves the max.
