When should DC drop its school mask mandate?

The memorandum of agreement that led to school reopening in the Fall had a section stating masks would be required. The MOA appeared to be for the entire school year. When I last read it, didn’t appear it’s provisions were tied to the public health emergency or anything.

But the first page refers to the health and safety issues related to the 'pandemic health emergency.' So isn't the health emergency over in DC, like as of Jan. 26?

That too.

Well sounds like the WTU can’t be your convenient villain now. Not too mention DCPS never upheld that MOA anyway.

Seriously, what would happen if we all told our kids to stop wearing masks? What could anyone do about it? My DS 14 (8th grade) says he wears his around his chin much of the day anyway and no one says a word to him. (However, he did take it off when walking out of school today and got a "LARLO! Put your mask on!" tsk tsk from a hall monitor type.)

Enough is enough.

Mendelson blamed the MOU. Is he just talking about his ass?

Be mad at Mendelson. He basically threw WTU under the bus.

He knows he wasn’t getting the teacher vote so we’re an easy target

We all know what kind of child you are raising.

Not the PP but I would be embarrassed to raise a child who follows ineffective, unscientific measures outside the mainstream.

Just did a quick listen on some of his meeting and wow... I admittedly have not been super involved in local town halls or council sessions but this is just embarrassing particularly in the nation's capital. One would think we could get someone with either more competence (if he truly was not following CDC updates) or more political cunning (pissing off parents and WTU--what kind of move is that??)...

I have been a DC resident for 15 years (came from VA after college) and feel ashamed I have not been more involved locally, because this is bananas.

Sec 1.1 says the health and safety rules can be amended and shall align with CDC...
Doesn’t seem like this prevents change the mask mandate to me.

This is my favorite thing I’ve read all day.
