How is being the oldest kid within your age group cheating? So are January birthdays cheating under the current BY?

Next year, Aug Birthdays play on age, or up on age. They can’t play down, so there can’t be play downers cheating anyone. Just accept that you’re wrong and that your kid isn’t good enough to make the team that they want to play on without forcing some one else to play up on age so that your kid can keep spot on team.

They must be trolling or have an agenda. If they are focused on college recruiting for the sake of the August kids, I may listen to their point of view, but accusations of cheating are most likely an indication of an agenda that's faltering.

There's a specific college recruiting category just for August born kids that everyone is unaware of?

Its the mentality of looking for ways to play down vs playing on a team thats a players grade in school.

Think outside of soccer. Who are the parents looking for ways to play their kid down against younger players? If you've ever played a sport in America theres always one or two of these on any team. Also you've probably experienced these kind of players get all the opportunities at first then over time filter right back to the bench or they quit. In football I remember one guy whos parents held him back and he was on steroids for his "allergy". The guy looked like a monster to kids in 7th grade. But by the time he was a junior in hs his hair was falling out and he didnt get much taller which made him shorter than most on the tean. All his parents manipulation of the rules didnt make a difference because mentally even with the steroids he didnt have what it takes.

This is how most play downers end up. Theres usually some kind of snowplow parent that lacks ethics pushing to get their kid whatever advantage possible in the background.

Apples and oranges. SY does not allow kids to play down. They play with age or up a year. It’s very simple. You people complaining about “play downers” and “held backs” are dumb as rocks and bitter. Let go of the childhood trauma and be adults. Your children aren’t going to be recruited if they can’t beat out kids playing on age or up an age.

Hahaha seems like you're starting to figure out that playing down isn't going to happen for Aug birthdays.

Right around July you'll crack.
Nobody every thought playing down was allowed in the age groups other than biobanding for MLSN1.

You can make up meanings for words like a 6 year old but the adults aren't going to play along with the childishness.

It's 8/1 to 7/31. Playing down not allowed in ECNL, playing up limited to best around here.

You you really think Aug parents are going to fork over cash to play on a 2nd best team? Because clubs only let "the best" Aug birthdays play on teams that are their grade in school.

Hahahah not going to happen.

Parents will just take their kids to another club that lets Aug birthdays play on the correct grade in school team.

No, I took all the details and created a matrix that has all the details parents and clubs will need this fall.

I did it because multiple club websites have incorrect info posted and because its confusing to keep everything aligned in your head when only one thing is listed.

But if you make the SY change this easy to understand what will soccer people constantly misunderstand, complain about, and create drama around.

You're going to put US Soccer out of business!

Cheat? You must be trolling.

If you actually read the statements put out by US Soccer, USYS, US Club, Etc everyone said the same thing. The decision to change back from BY to SY is occurring so more players can play on teams with other kids that are the same grade in school. I believe "grade level cohort" was the exact term used. The theory behind the change was that if more players played on a team that is their grade in school it would translate into higher levels of participation.

Once the change fron BY to SY occurs a weird quirk will happen where some Aug birthdays will become "trapped" in the opposite way that players were trapped in BY. But this is easily addressed by playing Aug birthdays on their correct grade in school team because you can always play up if needed.

Seems clear to me that US Soccer, USYS, and US Club think Aug birthdays should play on their correct grade in school team. Not down on a team with players that are all a grade lower in school.

That's a lot of words not explaining the cheating accusation.

So just make up your very own “matrix?” Psycho! You need help.

No, I took all the details and created a matrix that has all the details parents and clubs will need this fall.

I did it because multiple club websites have incorrect info posted and because its confusing to keep everything aligned in your head when only one thing is listed.
Kids still aren't forced to play up. In fact playing up is frowned upon. A sloppy table with incorrect info on a random forum isn't changing anything.

You lost.

Anonymous wrote:I don’t think this will be a one size fits all approach. I have 3 ECNL clubs in my area and all are taking different approaches to this.

Full change for all players no playing up, will allow some kids to play up depending on coaches decision, will let Aug-Dec players who are grade above play up to stay with school grade team (if they are at the level to make the team).

Its hard because rational people see that kids want to play on teams with other kids that are their grade in school. Age guy wants plastic trophies and doesnt care what his kid would prefer.

Coaches are stuck in the middle. They know that Aug birthdays playing on the team thats their grade in school is the way to go. But the play downers are always looking to ways to cheat by playing their kid down against younger players. Which makes things difficult.

We aren't talking about playing down. August kids who play with a lower grade are playing on AGE. Is that so hard to understand?

Playing down in other sports happens due to reclassifying where kids can be 1-2 years older than their grade.

Once again I ask, is it that hard to understand?

Lol, so you admit you made up this matrix?

What are you calling it? I want to tell all the parents tomorrow to look it up.
