I completely agree with the gist of this. All of the Democratic candidates pretty much agree that a tightening of asylum law is not needed. They're willing to put illegal immigrants (all of them) on a path to U.S. citizenship. And this is exactly why I won't be voting for a Democrat in 2020.

"What emerged was their core message to the world: Get here without papers and you’ll receive humane treatment while you’re processed, you’ll never be detained, you’ll get work permits immediately, and you’ll have access to publicly funded health care and a path to citizenship if you don’t commit a crime. This amounts to an open invitation to anyone on the planet to just show up and cross the border. The worst that can happen is you get denied asylum by a judge, in which case you can just disappear and there’s a 1 percent chance that you’ll be caught in a given year. Who wouldn’t take those odds?"

Ummm, did you not watch the debates??? Castro, and a majority want to decriminalize crossing the border illegally. That does not sound like border control?

This is another article echoing these sentiments and pointing out other issues on which the candidates are too far left.......
And, I can't see how they can swing back to the middle based on the past two nights.

First, there is health care. When Warren and Kamala Harris raised their hands and said that they would eliminate employer-based health insurance, they made the most important gesture of the campaign so far. Over 70 percent of Americans with insurance through their employers are satisfied with their health plan. Warren, Harris and Sanders would take that away.

According to a Hill-HarrisX survey, only 13 percent of Americans say they would prefer a health insurance system with no private plans. Warren and Sanders pin themselves, and perhaps the Democratic Party, to a 13 percent policy idea. Trump is smiling.

Second, there is the economy. All of the Democrats seem to have decided to run a Trump-style American carnage campaign. The economy is completely broken. It only benefits a tiny sliver. Yet in a CNN poll, 71 percent of Americans say that the economy is very or somewhat good. We’re in the longest recovery in American history and the benefits are finally beginning to flow to those who need them most. Overall wages are rising by 3.5 percent, and wages for those in the lowest pay quartile are rising by well over 4 percent, the highest of all groups.

Third, Democrats are wandering into dangerous territory on immigration. They properly trumpet the glories immigrants bring to this country. But the candidates can’t let anybody get to the left of them on this issue. So now you’ve got a lot of candidates who sound operationally open borders. Progressive parties all over the world are getting decimated because they have fallen into this pattern.

Wanting to curb illegal immigration doesn't automatically mean one is xenophobic. Ask many legal immigrants and you might be surprised.

The fact is that not everyone who desires or deserves to come and live permanently in the US will be able to. It's time to stop acting like this is a fundamental right.

I’m a legal immigrant who followed the rules. I had relatives who could not come to the US and ended up in Germany instead.

Why did they need to follow the rules? Maybe they should have gotten a fight to Mexico and crossed the border illegally? Seems this is the behavior we are encouraging!!!!
