Malaysia Airlines Flight Goes Missing En Route to China

Unless there was some sort of decompression, going to 45,000 feet wouldn't kill the passengers.

Interesting. But wouldn't the Singapore Airlines flight be able to see the Malaysia plane behind it? And if they saw it, wouldn't they tell someone about it? They must have some sort of radar that sees what's all around the plane, no?

I don't think planes have rear-view mirrors, sorry.

To the people saying 'suicide mission', what do you think is the purported goal of such a suicide? Does it follow the pattern of other terror suicides? How does it depart from them and why? I have no patience for DCUMers posting nonsense and taking up space in the thread.

Malfunctions by their very nature are unpredictable. An explosion of the batteries on the plane could have caused all sorts of malfunctions. Without the plane or the black box, we just don't know. It could be on land somewhere, maybe, but I don't see how it could pass undetected over India and Pakistan. Just so implausible. The other possibility, that it went South and plunged into the Indian Ocean is much more likely.

Unfortunately the black box only records the last 2 hours of a flight so we'll most likely never find out what happened even if the black box is found.

Could the plane have "drafted" behind the SA flight like you can do on the highway behind a truck to save fuel?

Has anyone seen a survey of thriller literature to see if something like this was dreamed up before?

Gosh you are strange.

Is this true? This is the most depressing point made today. Partly because if they were all unconcious/dead and it was on autopilot for over 2 hours, we'll never know if the pilot was in on it or trying to protect everyone.

Yes, it's a 2 hour loop. We'll never know.

Another theory, via the BBC reporter:

Being briefed by Malaysia officials they believe most likely location for MH370 is on land somewhere near Chinese/Kyrgyz border.

This is an area where the Uyghur people live - Uyghur militants did the knife attack at the train station a couple of weeks ago.

Can you cite how you know this? I can't find anything that says that.

WhY do you people lie so much? WTF is wrong with you???

A flight data recorder is required to store a minimum of 25 hours of flight information. A cockpit voice recorder is required to record a minimum of 2 hours of audio information

Thank you! I'm the PP who asked for a citation of that because I knew that couldn't be true. How else would we have so much information from other crashed flights?!

Can they build a plane which they can easily disguise as a commercial air liner and fly it right into a major city?

I think this plane is going to mimic a passenger flight and either be rammed into a building or used to detonate a dirty bomb over a city.

That's my fear as well. This whole thing is terrifying. I feel so sorry for the friends and families of the people on board that plane. I would much prefer knowing that my loved one had died in a crash than worry that he is alive somehwere and being mistreated.
