Dufief Stone Mill Travilah can all go to Crown with Rosemont and Fields Road.

Who gets the teachers in the divorce?

Pretty sure they want to go to Crown from everything I’ve been hearing!

Not wootton - they get the building. It’s only fair

Please send the survey results of the DCUM poll to the BOE to be entered in the official record.

No worries! I’ve been tallying it up the whole time - it’s a close one. Keep going - you’re doing great sweetie.

Who is winning?

Essentially moving Magruder there and integrating with Lakewood and Fallsmead, the current walkers who do not want to bus. The North Potomac feeders could go to Crown with Fields Road and Rosemont and whatever other schools need relief. Almost everyone, except Magruder, wins here. Very curious why this has yet to be explored or suggested.

What kind of troll comment is this? Did you not listen to a word that countless Magruder parents testified to??? Why in gods name would Magruder kids want to commute to a school that is marginally better than their own? The commute only makes sense if Magruder gets to use the newly built Crown while their own school gets rebuilt.

Yea no shit everyone wins but Magruder in your proposal. Magruder—the one that needs the most amount of attention with the worst FCI and the highest FARMS.

GTFO

If magruder is actually getting a new school they can suck it up and deal with Wootton for two years. Pretty decent trade.

Except Magruder isn’t even on CIP (step 2) nor is Wootton renovations (step 1).

If Magruder goes to Crown, it reduces at least one step.

How about this solution: put Wootton renovations on CIP, as well as Magruder.
Once Magruder rebuilt is done, put Horizon Hill, Fallsgrove, and Cold Spring back at Wootton.

Open Crown as a perm school with Fields Road, Rosemont, Rio, and Dufief in meantime.

Better yet: get the ES boundary study done. Once that’s complete and DuFief has been absorbed into Stone Mill, send the whole of Stone Mill and Travilah to Crown too to make way for Ritchie Park and Wayside at Wootton. Then we can finally abolish the concept of “North” Potomac altogether.

Stonemill doesn’t have space for Dufief as it hasn’t even counted the grove students. There are sudden influx of 90 new students this year alone.

DuFief can comfortably be split into Stone Mill, Fields Road and Travilah. And they can all go to the brand new school in their very same zip code that’s closer to them than Wootton Pkwy and make room for Ritchie Park and Wayside. No more crowding at RM, Churchill, QO, Gaithersburg or Wootton. Problem solved.

You’re delusional with wayside. If wayside was willing to join Wootton, we’d be already settled for one of the ABCD options.

Right? The boundary study would be done. Crown would already be open by this fall. Come on…

That's fine. They move or go private or homeschool. Not an issue for MCPS.

Actually this is a MCPS problem. Part of why enrollment is down is because folks have moved out of the county, gone private or homeschool.

What does everyone prefer: Wootton v. Magruder or Magruder v. Wootton?

Magruder @ Wootton (Fallsmead and Lakewood).

Stone Mill, Travilah, Dufief, Fields, Rosemont @ THE brand new Crown Farm North Potomac High School

Magruder would bring their teachers and staff. Wootton teachers and staff moved to Crown.

This idea is beginning to make more and more sense.

Move Magruder to Wootton to go with Fallsmead Lakewood and Cold Spring, that would put the building at about ~1900 perfect for capacity.

Open Crown as a permanent school with Fields Road, Rosemont, Rio, Dufief, Stone Mill, and Travilah. It can now take even more from QO and Gaithersburg High School.

In the meantime do the ES/MS study. By the time that is done, Magruder will be able done too with rebuild.

Move Fallsgrove, Horizon Hill, and whatever has changed about ES—like Wayside—to Wootton.

Genuinely, who is the loser of this plan? It seems like everyone gets what they want, just on a different timeline. But the Wootton walkers get to stay at Wootton. Magruder gets a new build. Crown gets its school.

Every "we can make everybody happy" plan boils down to two assumptions:

1. MCPS and MoCo will spend money they say they don't have to rebuild the two high schools on a faster timeline than the current CIP.
2. Enrollment will recover enough that opening up Crown as an independent high school makes sense.

Wayside families scrunched their noses and said “Wootton? That’s a high FARMS rate school”

Please keep Travilah out of this. Travilah overwhelmingly do not want H and want to stay with Fallsmead and Lakewood at Wootton. Our recent school wide survey showed over 87% of Travilah families oppose going to Crown.

I can’t speak for Stone Mill, but it sounds like only Dufief wants to go, which by all means please go but stop trying to lump Travilah with you.

We don’t stand with Dufief

It’s only 2.6 miles to QOHS from Travilah. I wonder if BOE knows this. Just saying…
