Why would anyone want a shutdown? People suffer. SMH.

No, we need a shutdown. Trump and Vought are planning massive federal layoffs in their official budget. The threat of layoffs during a shutdown is nothing compared to what's coming ANYWAY. So we're screwed regardless. I do not want Democrats to cave in these conditions. Go down fighting.

I hope I get fired. I don’t want to work for these jackasses a minute longer. Today’s email was the last straw.

+1. A mass firing is fine with me. I’ve got enough saved to last and am willing to move anywhere for any kind of job. I know I didn’t lose my job because of my performance. I lost it because Voight is an ass.

+2 They can fire me as well.

+3 A RIF for me would mean a Discontinued Service Retirement; I have 27 years in. I did the math, and I would be fine. It might be time for a change of scenery, so I'd be open to selling my house and using the equity and savings to buy something for cash in a more affordable area.

That's optimistic if everyone starts doing the same. Having over 100K houses come on the market at once during the slow fall/winter time will be slaughter for the sellers. That is If you believe hundreds of thousands of people in DC area would be let got at once, in which case DC will be the affordable area

What are you talking about? And it’s closer to 500,000 but okay. Troll

Disagree. They aren’t firing me. I’m in an area that is statutorily required and favored by this administration. I’m not essential though because my job does not affect life and safety of Americans. We are a net positive to the federal budget too, so they need us.

The general public see essential and they think it means we aren’t needed. Nope. A good analogy would be a construction site. The welders, plumbers and roofers are not essential at all. No one will die if their roof isn’t completed. The police officer who patrols the site to make sure vandals aren’t burning it up is essential.

Good riddance.

Say that to some single dad and his little girl at school.

ICE is hiring with $50,000 signing bonus.

So is park service police.

Did anyone not get guidance at work today? I’m a long term Fed and knew what my status would be but my dh has no idea. His agency was floating around the idea of making them essential. He also was told he has to stay the 4 full hours. He had no idea what will happen when he shows up at work tomorrow which is crazy. We’ve always had guidance before.

It will be there when he gets to the office.

You keep telling yourself that. The OPM guidance is to RIF PPAs that are not consistent with the Trumps priorities. It says nothing about statutorily required.

You have to log on tomorrow to do orderly shutdown activities. You just can't work more than 4 hours or do anything that isn't related to shutdown.
