I decided to DVR Jeopardy when I heard about Alex Trebek's cancer. I'm planning to watch them all at least until he's no longer around.
This guy, James Holzauer, is so awesome! It's not just his unique strategy that is impressive, it's his incredible bank of knowledge. Anybody else loving this? He really seems like a cool guy too. I also really love that you never see him frantically trying to push the button, in fact you never see him push the button at all. He is so calm and steady! I do feel sorry for all his opponents though. I bet at one point they were pretty excited to be on Jeopardy, not so much anymore. |

He is unbelievable. He literally knows everything. I do actually feel bad for his opponents!
My husband was telling me he read an article though that Jeopardy is in a bit of a quandary - they don't tend to have that kind of cash on hand that was accumulated so fast. Ken Jennings took a long while to amass his winning, while this guy is already at a million dollars in 14 days. It's nuts! |
| He's really incredible. Giving Alex Trebek a great send-off. |
| We are loyal viewers - we watch every single night after dinner with the kids and are loving James. His breadth of knowledge is incredible! And I agree, we never see him sweat or look flustered. I'd love to be that smart!! |
|
It's unreal. Years ago Jeopardy used to have a limit to how long someone could stay on, either 5 or 10 days, and then even if they were winning they were done and could come back for Tournament of Champions. What will they do with this guy, let him play forever?
We usually watch it once or twice a week but the kids have asked to watch it every day for right now, and I'm inclined to do so. |
| Jeopardy may run out of money with this guy! Ken Jennings won $2.5 million but it took 74 games. James has won over $1 million already in only 14 games! If he makes it as long as Jennings he’ll win around $5.3 million! |
i really do not see Jeopardy "running out of money". my guess is that sponsors want to get on board at whatever price since this guy is absolutely killing it! |

I watch Jeopardy most evenings, but does anyone know when the new episodes of Jeopardy end for the season?
I know most shows go off in May. Is Jeopardy the same? It just dawned on me the other day that he must lose soon if that's the case, unless they allow them to come back the next season. James said in an interview he doesn't consider himself an intellectual. I wonder if he has an eidetic memory? He just knows SO much about every topic! |
Ken Jennings winning streak spanned over 2 seasons, so if he is still the champion when the season ends he would come right back to start the new season. |

This guy is incredible. He said he never really liked school. (He must have been too smart for regular school). He said he read children's books to learn stuff about topics he doesn't know. There is a great article in today's WP in the Style section about him. (I get the print version so I don't have the link...sorry).
I have never seen anyone who knows so much about so many issues. The guy is only 34 years old. |

I was randomly flipping channels and caught the day he won 104,000. It was amazing!
I used to watch Jeopardy each evening with my grandmother. She would give me apple juice and graham crackers. Watching the show gives me sweet memories. |
He is so fast to answer that I think it just overwhelms the other contestants. Sometimes he even cuts off Alex Trebek! He breadth and depth of knowledge is amazing as well. |
| What is his strategy? |
| I think there should be term limits. I don't know how he'll ever lose, which now that he's been on several weeks, is making me less interested in the show since he's so far ahead of whomever he's pitted against. |
Works the board from the bottom up, answering the highest value questions first. Bets big when he gets a daily double, often doubilng up. And he's super fast & almost always right, he barely lets his opponents answer any questions. Maybe they should let him take over Alex Trebek's job when Trebek gets too sick to work. |
