Jeopardy!

She was an English major at Princeton and is a librarian. He was toast as soon as the final category showed up.

He got the first daily double at the beginning of the game with only 1000 to bet. She went after the bottom of the board in double jeopardy and got both daily doubles, and bet everything on one.

She beat him at his own game.

I don’t watch jeopardy. Did this guy walk away with any money?

The show didn't leak the outcome. There is a station that airs Jeopardy at 9:30 am and so once it aired in that market everyone there knew the outcome. You can't expect a whole region of the country to not talk about it.

She played it right and had luck on her side plus she was fast on the buzzer. Let's see how long she lasts. The woman who beat Ken Jennings was eliminated in the very next game.

This is the first time he was up against two good players, he had to bet conservatively enough to “lock out” third place by a dollar. Third place guy was actually very good in double once he got into a groove with the buzzer.

Overall it was a very good game with only 3rd place guy getting the only wrong answer during the whole game.

The get well card was very touching.

What will be interesting to see if now that he's gone is when there are eventually three brand new contestants if they start at the bottom of the board.

This. I think it was mostly because all three players were very smart and good with the buzzer. James’ game was spot on. So were the other playwrs’

In Ken Jennings’ book he says that at some point we’ll into his run that they changed the buzzer timing because he had it down so well and that’s what ultimately did him in. Wonder if they did that to James.

Emma used James' approach in her game today. She was well ahead in Single Jeopardy but quite honestly she was lucky to win the game overall. She is good but not James caliber based on what happened today.

He was a joy to watch. So sad this run is over.

I wonder if he knew he was toast as soon as he got the daily double on the first pick. And then she got the next daily double...

I think he just had a bit of bad luck and got outplayed.

There was a leak: https://www.washingtonpost.com/arts-entertainment/2019/06/04/jeopardy-producer-appropriate-action-will-be-taken-against-leaker-james-holzhauers-loss/?utm_term=.91747a4c2f5d&wpisrc=nl_most&wpmm=1

I still think he threw it. He just didn't seem to be as 'in' it as he was in the beginning. At some point, no matter how great the streak, you're going to start to miss your old life and family.

I'm a big Jeopardy fan and it was even getting boring for me to watch. I feel like he saw Emma as an equal and threw it for her. A passing of the torch, if you will.

I'm interested to see how she does tonight. I hope she doesn't lose like the person who beat Ken Jennings did on the show right after beating him.

He was toast before that. He wasn't leading heading into final jeopardy.

Plus the game had adjusted to his style - they mixed up where the Daily Double squares so that he couldn't find them as easily. She woke because she found them.

They tape something like 5 episodes a day so he was only gone from his family about 2 weeks--not a big deal. That said, I agree that he passed the torch.

Jeopardy! starring James Holzhauer.

I miss him already.

The show just got a little boring again.
