Always sick, ways to boost up immune system & have a stronger body

Anonymous
My 3 year old is a picky eater, on the skinny & small size. He does not eat any meat/vegetable, and he loves dairy products, fruit & carbs. He has been sick so often recently that I want to find ways to boost up his immune system. His urine has been so yellowish that I have been forcing him to drink more fluid as well. I want him to have a stronger body, any sport activities/supplement/advice that can help?

Water, and a clean gut

I'd really look at the fluid intake. Yellow urine means dehydration and not enough water going through his system to flush the toxins. Kidneys are amazing clearing organs. But they need water and liquid to work. I'd also focus on water heavy fruit like watermelon, oranges. If he's not eating veggie or meat where is he getting his vitamin b and iron from? Too much dairy can also inhibit iron absorption. Does he eat beans? I'd do a multivitamin with B complex.
Dairy is good but also focus on fermented dairy like yogurt and kefir and not just cheese and milk.

There is no such thing as boosting your immune system. Either it works, or it doesn’t. If it doesn’t, you are immunocompromised. Nothing will make it work “better.”

It is the first time I hear of kefir, it sounds healthy. Can a child consume it daily? And, it is the first time I hear not eating veggie or meat may make a child deficient in vitamin B. He does not eat bean unfortunately. So, multvitamin is not good enough, it must be multivitamin with "B complex" because of not eating veggie & meat?

Elderberry. Either in syrup or gummy form.

Well, that’s only kind of true.

Sleep and good nutrition and lack of stress can optimize its function.

How to get your small child to not be sick all the time and to grow normally?

You could always start with feeding him food. Actual food. That means meat and vegetables.

It's worked for billions of people over literally thousands of years. There's a pretty good chance it will work for your child too. Really.

Yes you can drink kefir (watch the added sugar content) and other fermented things every day. No you don't need a specific b complex vitamin just an overall kids one. One can live a very healthy vegetarian lifestyle but it takes a little more work and a lot of vegetables to get many of the nutrients which are easier to find in meat and fish in larger quantities. How old is your child?
Some immune system components can be helped by a good diet, a lot of rest etc. some are inherent or sogns of other issues like sinuses etc but eating more vegetables and drinking more water can't hurt.

Keep trying with vegetables. Mine started eating spinach a year ago because i let her put ranch dressing on it. She likes zoodles in pesto but wouldn't eat plain zucchini. Kids are weird but try different things and make him eat at least one bite to get dessert.

This. It can take 7 tries before a person likes a food. If you stop at one or two attempts, you may be missing out on finding many foods your kid likes.

This. And presentations matters. Sometimes my 3 year old likes her cucumbers in spears and sometimes in circles. There are yellow and orange and red cherry tomatoes, halved or quartered (mine also eats them whole: bites the end and sucks out the inside with a funny face). Frozen peas are a favorite and preferred to cooked peas. And there's always the trick to get spinach and broccoli into muffins etc.

OP here. No joke, unfortunately it is sensory issues that he does not eat meat or vegetables. He has an official diagnosis of oral motor issue & he is currently on feeding therapy & OT therapy. Therefore, it takes a lot more efforts to get him to try a tiny bite of food, sometimes it is not he won't eat it, but it is he can't eat it.
