What are shows that everyone swears by that you can't get into and why?

For me, it's The Americans, House of Cards, and Gilmore Girls. I tried to get into them several times to no avail.
Couldn't make it past the first episode of The Americans. The the rape scene was a HUGE turnoff, as were the bad-action-movie/Grand Theft Auto-wannabe scenes the first episode started. House of Cards had good music and visuals, but God, Kevin Spacey's accent was laughable. The premise of the show also hinges on NO ONE realizing that Frank is a psychopath; it's also easy to portray him as a "genius" while portraying everyone else as a moron. The deeper we get, the more ridiculous the story line. I wanted to like Gilmore Girls. But ... talking so fast for its own sake? Pushing a fake quirky persona before it was even a thing? It's so forced. Not for me, fam. What about you, DCUM? |

Walking dead for sure. I couldn’t get past the first episode, which I watched in grotesque horror. I can deal with scary but i just can’t do zombie anything. I never forget that they are humans.
That first gunshot to the head of the first zombie was so incredibly graphic. Friends said it calmed down ever so slightly from there, but that it picked up in violence during occasional episodes. Last, I can’t do it from two standpoints. Societal: Again, these are humans. Why are we desensitizing ourselves to hurting each other? Personal: again, just not my form of entertainment. In no way relaxing or beautiful or what I would choose above 1000 other tv choices. |
