Why is Blake Lively so overrated?

So it's ok to abuse women if you're a hot guy? WTF is wrong with you?

She just seems so snotty and smug.

Both. I think she overreacted/distorted the original complaints. I also think that Baldoni and the other guy could have been gross (but not sexually harassing) in doing things like wanting to add additional sex scenes that were not necessary. I think she never wanted Baldoni to be on the film and took advantage of an opening to sideline him. and I think even after being successful in that, she set out to publicly humiliate him right as the film was being marketed. Then I think he went too far in retaliating against all of that, and is likely liable.

I agree that some of the issues in the legal complaint could be overstated - it was written by her lawyers in the service of advocating for their client - but I disagree that stuff like improvising extra physical contact in an intimate scene that she wasn’t expecting, hiring Baldoni’s friend (rather than a real actor) to play her OB and stick his head between her legs during a birth scene, and entering her trailer uninvited when she was undressed is “gross behavior.” It’s sexual harassment and it shouldn’t be tolerated in any workplace.

This stuff is pretty easily verifiable (allegedly multiple witnesses) so if it’s true, I don’t care if her lawyers engaged in a little puffery to describe how egregious it was. It’s bad.

Agree it’s bad. He’s cooked.

They rewrote scenes, added scenes, styled characters. As a result, there was a power struggle between her and Baldoni. They hate each other.

Blake thought this movie would elevate her acting career as Barbie did for Margot Robbie. “Bring your friends, wear your florals!” She so stupid and vapid it went over her head this isn’t the way to promote a movie about DV. Her inner mean girl showed and America hated her. She couldn’t take it. She wants to cast herself as a helpless victim to get America’s sympathy and whitewash her own actions.

Plus Blake wants the rights to It Starts with us from Baldoni. She is ruining him and sueing him to get them. She’s so powerful, she doesn't have to do much to ruin him but he won’t give up those rights and she wants them. He isn’t a Saint but she is straight up evil despicably and horrible. I hope he countersues for defamation and destruction of his career.

Her approach to the movie in interviews was dictated by the studio, it’s in the full filing. She was directed to NOT speak about DV but to play up other themes instead. She shouldn’t have agreed to that because it did make her look dumb. Then JB and team changed course when they saw the marketing backfiring so he comes out looking brave and like a feminist hero.

The marketing plan was really stupid, and considering how involved Ryan Reynolds was, and what a master marketer he is, I’m really surprised they didn’t pivot sooner when it was clearly backfiring on her.

This whole thing is just weird, weird, weird. I feel like we’re missing a bunch of information.

But I do think Blake should not have had to deal with this crap on a set. Horrible.

So much "abuse" and "harassment." You're just parroting Blake's pressure campaign.

What would anyone think if their co-worker changed direction in a meeting and left them hanging in the wind looking like an ass? Normal professional people don't backstab like that and work as a team. It's sabotage and done intentionally. Why wouldn't they have worked together and been on the same page?

So much gaslighting. Hope your boy doesn't end up in jail.

Because they were subpoenaed, per the article

In CA the first step in filing a workplace harassment claim is to open a case with the state civil rights department, which is a government entity with subpoena power. If the parties can’t reach a settlement through that body, then the complainant can file a lawsuit in court. That’s what this new document is - the first filing in a lawsuit.

The texts from the PR team were subpoenaed by Blake Lively’s lawyers are part of the prior CA civil rights investigation. Then used here, in the complaint.

High dollar PR. NY Times is a rag.

There was discovery as part of the proceedings.

Can you explain more about that? I came here to ask the same question about how they were able to obtain the texts? I'm just not sure I understand, how can they get those through discovery?

+1. Them and Luigi Mangione. None of these men are good looking.
