Trump campaign death spiral

I do think that Democrats (to include me) underestimate Trump and his machine at our own peril. He does seem to have a very loyal base.

The Dem bet is that the loyal MAGA base is not enough to get him elected president. The campaign should be all about expanding beyond his base. There is no evidence that they are successfully doing that against Harris - they were against Biden. If the campaign cannot do that, it doesn't matter how many people show up at a Trump rally or a Trump/Elon interview. It is not effective.

Correct assessment. However, all the non-Trumpers still need to give it their all for this election, and to be particularly vigilant in its aftermath - Trump is preparing his base for another "stolen election" and his supporters will act in consequence.

Did you? It crashed on my end. The figure I saw was 1.5 million so you are exaggerating.

+1

I never saw more than 1.1M during the period I was listening.

Any claims of "millions and millions" are the regular Trump exaggeration and bluster.

I tried to connect and didn't hear anything so I closed my browser window. The page loaded, but no audio was coming out.

I bet they are counting every single person that tried to load the webpage or app page, even if they didn't listen to it at all.

Agree. But even if 100 million listened in, it was for the clown show. Not because they are voting for the clown.

Wrong. Right now the video shows 1.141M on DJ's Youtube channel alone, which was uploaded 14 hours ago. (The event started at 8PM EST). I'll also make the point that it is incredibly difficult to find the full version online. I encourage you to try a search yourself if you don't believe me.

Another fact--a YouTube channel called Hindustan Times (???) shows 6,909 people watching this instant, so the total very well could be in the millions.

No millions did not listen to him. The estimated audience was 15,000 not what twitter put out.

As a reference, popular music videos often get 10 million views within a few minutes. A couple million is not very good.

Trump has never had a majority support and in the years since 2020, we had the Dobbs ruling and 4 years of physical and mental degradation of the candidate. There aren't new voters he is attracting and his campaign is all grievance based.

Of course no one is underestimating him or the MAGA base. That is why getting the Dems excited and motivated is so core to the Harris campaign.

Most of those who died from covid after a certain point (the vaccine?) were Republicans. Trump’s actions literally killed his base.

Sadly I don’t think that’s true. Most of the people who died from Covid were frontline people who had to show up to work in person. They were our grocery store personnel, bus and train drivers, cooks, plumbers, nurses and hospital personnel, trash collectors and Petco workers, etc. You know the people who are often overlooked in their day to day operations. I am not certain they were Donald’s base. But I would love to be wrong, just don’t think I am.

Yes, after the vaccine was introduced, more people who voted Republican died than people who voted Democratic. https://www.npr.org/2023/07/25/1189939229/covid-deaths-democrats-republicans-gap-study The GOP politicized the vaccine leading fewer Republicans getting it, and then they still wanted to pretend it was “just a cold” and thus something that didn’t warrant distancing or masking. But that’s after the vaccine was introduced.

I don't understand why the number of people who saw this is so important to -- someone? some people in this thread? How does this carry any special weight?

I don't think a billion people watched this, but if they did, who would care? Just watching is, what, a vote of confidence? Some kind of assessment of his masculinity?

As far as I know, the most viewed video on YouTube is still Baby Shark Dance with almost 15 million views. That means exactly nothing, other than that people have watched it, and likely for more than 8 billion reasons.
