FYI, allowing isn't forcing.

Notice that the OP of the Facebook thread said their club is forcing kids to play on age and blocking playing up.

Clubs around here are sticking with age, best can play up. Random hopes and dreams on a Facebook posts aren't a data point.

They said players will play within the age bands never heard that term until then??? but kids will tryout for their new age group Aug-July and after tryouts the club will talk with families. No players will be forced to play on age group above regardless of grade.

If a player would like to play and up the club believes they are at the level they will be allowed.

This is what clubs say now but aligning Aug birthdays with their grade in school team makes things much easier for them to manage.

If you think clubs wont choose the path that is in their best interests you are a fool.

How does it make it easier for them (the club) to manage? Have you ever used one of the CRMs they use for club management (I know the answer, you've only been in involved in soccer for a few years with your daughter)? Nothing, I repeat, nothing in any of them is set up to revolve around grade. It is meaningless. Everything is set up to revolve around age brackets in these systems! Trying to organize by grade actually makes a club's life harder. So again, how would aligning someone with a specific grade make it easier for clubs to manage them? Please explain.

Your assumptions are humorous. I've already said that I was around pre 2017 which is why I know whats going to happen with SY and Aug birthdays.

I've also already listed multiple times why its easier for clubs when all players on a team are the same graduating year aka grade in school.

Yes, we know you personally existed before 2017, but you have only been involved with soccer on the girls side for a few years. As a parent. Which is fine Delusional August Guy.

Humor me on this: "I've also already listed multiple times why its easier for clubs when all players on a team are the same graduating year aka grade in school."

How is it 'easier' for the club?

Clubs want all levels of player playing on the correct grade in school A B C etc team. This is because its better for players when they get to recruiting years. Its better for the club because they avoid 8th grade teams with 9th grade players who do high school soccer for 4 months out of the year. And in general its easier for clubs to manage everyone when players are grouped by grade. (Think homecoming, or a school trip that only one grade participates in, etc)
Still all wish casting. Imagine the look on a coach's face when asking about school field trips and club soccer.

Are you kidding me? If the entire school has a mandatory school trip coaches can make whatever face they want. The team will be on the trip. You have no clue.

My DS's team has 18 players from 12 different school districts. Most MLS and ECNL teams have something similar I would bet.

So what happens when BY 9th grade teams with 8th grade players on them do things like homecoming or high school soccer? Do the 8th grade players group together and play as a 5-6 player team? You know because grade in school doesnt matter to coaches.

Nobody is going to force Aug players to play on their coreect grade in school team. They just wont make the grade below them A team. But coaches will offer a spot on the correct grade in school B team or grade down B team. We all know which one you'll choose

So August players are damned if they do and damned if they don't with no chance of making a top team in either age group in your fantasy?

What club is doing this? It wasn't in any of the club age group change posts where they were pointing out that playing up was generally limited. Or is this something your are making up because it helps your DD?

No such thing exists. There are no 9th grade or 8th grade teams

In reality, August kids are gold as the oldest in the age groups. July and June got shafted.

The reality is if Aug birthdays are "good" they'll make their grade in school A team. The only reason an Aug birthday would be looking to play on a grade down A team is because they didnt make the grade in school A team.

In this situation clubs need to step in and save kids from parents who are looking for shortcuts. Put the kid on their correct grade in school B team so if they get better making the correct grade in school A team possible.

There are no grade in school teams

Is it mental illness why you ignore that fact?

There 100% is grade in youth soccer even though you dont want to admit reality. Grade in school and its effects on teams was the primary driver for the BY to SY change

Doesn't compute. Clubs around here announced limited playing up and won't know or care about kids grades. It's over. This grade thing was always a lost cause only alive in your head.

Clubs are repeating something someone dumb like you told them to say. When rubber hits the road and rosters are defined there will be a different result. Clubs know this. They also know when it happens theres nothing you will be able to do about it.
