Does anyone know when they might release the 20-21 school calendar?
I am specifically asking about when the first day of school might be. Typically school starts the week before Labor Day (meaning that kids go to school for a week and followed by a long Labor Day weekend). This means, the first day of school might be 8/31/2020? |
| They are scheduled to decide at a School Board meeting on April 25th. They are considering either August 24th or August 31st start dates. |
| Thanks for the update - I wonder what they will decide |

FWIW, that school year is one where Labor Day is as late as it can possibly be such that school would start Sept. 8th (!) if they stayed with the post-LD start. I always hate those years b/c it is far too late.
I support the Aug. 24th start date. |
| I also support Aug 24th. start date. |
| I am cool with 24 August |
| I’m ok with a week before Labor Day, but two weeks prior puts teachers back the 17th or possibly even the 13th or 14th. I also don’t want the start to keep creeping earlier into the summer. |
| August 31st. Please. August 24 is too early. |
This. |
I agree too. |
Agreed. Send a quick email to let the board know. |

how about 2021-2022?
how about 2022-2023? |
Another week earlier. Another week earlier. (I hope not.) |
| The earlier the better then we can get out earlier. The rest of the US is moving toward a mid-August start and the kids are out around Memorial Day. That would be ideal. |
Other than AP testing, I really don’t see the benefits. Start at the end of August and get out the 2nd week of June vs starting mid-August and getting out the end of May? It’s still the same amount of time. Everything will just shift. For example, if a child is bored at the end of August the child will just get bored two weeks earlier. SOL testing would be two weeks earlier and end of year shut down will do the same. |
