Probably bc no matter what decision they make, they will hear shit from crazies like you. So they don’t want to make a decision yet. Chill out. It’s not like we need to know right this second what the calendar will be for 2020-2021!

They are setting up their hidey holes for all the people who are going to freak out when they move the start date back another week because their kids traditional summer will be ruined, RUINED, that they are going to go back to school two weeks before Labor Day.

Aren't you super clever? Some of us actually enjoy time with our kids in the summer. And, yes, I will not be happy to see it shortened by another week on the front end, with no correspondent shortening on the back end to give us that time back. Maybe if you weren't such as snarky a-hole, your kids would enjoy you more.

As for AP kids, I couldn't possibly care less. If your kid is that distressed by an additional WEEK, you have bigger problems.

I do enjoy time with my kid in the summer. And I will have that time, I'll just have more of it in June then in August. And I am fine with that. They are not shortening summer vacation, just adjusting the start of summer vacation and the end of summer vacation.

It does seem like fairly big changes for just AP.

Did you all see we got a new third option?

And, unless I missed something they actually changed option 2, to end on 6/18 when they previously had it at 6/21 when they sent the initial survey.

I am a fan of starting as late as possible including post Labor Day. So I still prefer option 2. I guess #3 is my second choice but I think it will be hard for some to find 2 day camps for M / T if school start on W.

They are in fact shortening the summer if they start earlier. Option 1 has 10 weeks of summer 2020. Option 2 has 11 weeks.

OPTION 2!

Option 3 must have been written by a drunk monkey - random 2 hour early releases in the middle of the week or after three day holiday weekend.

Seriously. That January schedule is moronic.

Can anyone explain why we have half days for the end of the quarter when they are followed by teacher workdays? Ridiculous.

As an elementary teacher, we've had those for years and we've needed them. My principal has a short staff meeting and then we spend the afternoon working on progress reports. The teacher workdays are needed for professional learning and workshops. NOT ridiculous.

I like it. Not starting two full weeks before Labor Day, three days at Thanksgiving, two week winter break and out on June 11.

It would be nice to have one when grades are due towards the end of quarter 4.

Yeah it’s the best of the three. None of them are great though. But I like 3 best.

I would have liked 3 but hate the mid week teacher work days.

All 3 options not great. I vote option 1. I don’t mind aug 24 start. I used to love the last week before Labor Day. The 4 day Labor Day weekend is fine for us. Can do a last beach weekend.
