07 Girls for 2019-2020

Anonymous
New thread. I'm tired of the Spirit one which gets sidetracked all the time.

Can we move the conversation about 2007 girls to this thread? McLean, BRYC, VDA, Loudoun, Bethesda in ECNL and Arlington, Spirit, and FCV in DA. The other thread seems to assume there may be lots of movement but also lots of retention depending on the club.... Discuss.

Other thread mentioned McLean Green 07 lost a couple girls mid-year. Was there a reason the girls left, and what club did they join?

Bethesda tweeted last week that they need goalies for the 2007 age group. Apparently there are no dedicated goalies in that age group. If any goalie wants to be a starter for an ECNL team next year, it looks like there is an open roster spot for your daughter.

I heard FCV has already made offers for 2007. Is this true?

DD was at an ID session a few weeks ago for a NOVA ECNL program forming a new 07 team. We saw quite a few Loudon jackets on the field. Is the 07 Loudon so strong that the lower part of the roster would be looking around?

I heard McLean 2007 girls left because they were unhappy with playing time in the fall. I do not have a DD on that team but have a couple kids with the club so this is second-hand info. As to where they went... rumor-Mill says Spirit and BRYC. May be playing 2006.

Not possible that Loudoun players leave Loudoun. Your eyes deceive you.

This is why playing a little 11v11 during U12 can go a long ways to settling anxiety. Continuing to play 9v9, and playing 9v9 to win at this age leaves 3-5 kids pretty anxious about their future role on the team. It is hard for parents and players to see the forest from the trees, even when you are playing Top Clubs in the nation in what is at this point your kids last "little girls soccer" hurrah. 11v11 is a different game than 9v9 and that success from not only a team standpoint but even a player standpoint does not always transfer to the big field, at least not in the first year or two for all players.

So, it is unwise to think that your 07 roster is as set as you might believe it to be. And for kids who's roles on the team for the last 3-4 year have been in flux and with no coaching change, well do not be surprised if kids seek other clubs.

And what you will learn is that those kids who were taken for granted and were slated to be 11v11 starters are now gone and you have to dip deeper into the B team to replace them.

If you are not a club that is drawing a lot of outside interest this loss of player depth can tend to expose power teams at 11v11.

So, it is good to play a little 11v11 just to see how things look going forward. It won't make them better 11v11 players next year but it is frankly a better use of an opportunity than playing in a now meaningless 9v9 bracket.

Yeah no 07 teams follow this line of thinking. Even FCV 07 is playing 9v9 at Jeff Cup.

Except FCV is playing 11v11 in EDP.

Not helping them recruit any players though. Kind of crazy right? The team is just not appealing.

So is MD United. Difference between those 07 teams, of course, is that MD United is good.

Which team needs the outside players more? Can FCV pull up players from teams 2 and 3? Good luck.

So the answer is zero to close to zero outside kids have shown interest in Loudoun 07 ECNL.
