DD was at an ID session a few weeks ago for a NOVA ECNL program forming a new 07 team. We saw quite a few Loudon jackets on the field. Is the 07 Loudon so strong that the lower part of the roster would be looking around?
Not possible that Loudoun players leave Loudoun. Your eyes deceive you.
This is why playing a little 11v11 during U12 can go a long ways to settling anxiety. Continuing to play 9v9, and playing 9v9 to win at this age leaves 3-5 kids pretty anxious about their future role on the team. It is hard for parents and players to see the forest from the trees, even when you are playing Top Clubs in the nation in what is at this point your kids last "little girls soccer" hurrah. 11v11 is a different game than 9v9 and that success from not only a team standpoint but even a player standpoint does not always transfer to the big field, at least not in the first year or two for all players. So, it is unwise to think that your 07 roster is as set as you might believe it to be. And for kids who's roles on the team for the last 3-4 year have been in flux and with no coaching change, well do not be surprised if kids seek other clubs. And what you will learn is that those kids who were taken for granted and were slated to be 11v11 starters are now gone and you have to dip deeper into the B team to replace them. If you are not a club that is drawing a lot of outside interest this loss of player depth can tend to expose power teams at 11v11. So, it is good to play a little 11v11 just to see how things look going forward. It won't make them better 11v11 players next year but it is frankly a better use of an opportunity than playing in a now meaningless 9v9 bracket.
