Real DA will play real DA teams beginning at U13, as real DA teams do. Everything before U13 calling itself DA or ECNL is for status conscious parents and Arlington/Loudoun coaches doing their best to try to recruit/retain players. They will do it all over again in the Spring.

Especially when it is the same kids at U12. It is the same pool.

It is not the same pool. The boys DA pool is considerably larger. Usually only about half of the boys and sometimes only a third at Arlington DA are from previous Arlington Red. The DA kids come from all over and from multiple other clubs. And a lot of Arlington u12s will go look at dcu next year if they restore U13 DA. At least one U12 already played in DCU DA. Also do not forget that U13 DA will roster half the players that used to be rostered on U12 DA teams. So many more from outside competing against U12 “DA” players for half the spots that exist this year for those U12s. Do the math.

This year has almost all Arlington kids at the U12 PRE-DA which is common. Changes start happening when they enter "real" DA. More kids start coming over to check it out.

I ask myself is it worth all the drama? seems like people on this forum will keep track of the girls record. I believe Arlington is a top team otherwise why are they always top 3 in every age group you cant say they always pick the most athletic girls. Is everyone saying there is no athletic girls anywhere else in the area? Only Arlington has Athleticism I guess and knows how to teach girls to use it. Every other club must have girls walking with canes and must rely on actually coaching is what I’m reading.

Athleticism is just one attribute of a soccer players. All the top teams at a big club will have athleticism. Soccer IQ and technical ability are other attributes. Some players just have a better touch, better foot eye coordination, see the field, etc vs others. These are the ones who make the prefect pass right to the foot of a running player taking out three defenders and they do it over and over agains. They carver up teams. These type of players make everyone around them better. When they are not on the field the team seems to struggle. Arlington does not look for these type of players in the early age. Arlington looks for the best athletes.

At the younger ages big strong fast athletic(early developing) kids have a huge advantage. It does not mean they will be good soccer players but you will win. Around u12-u13 for the girls, everything starts to balance out in terms of size and athleticism on the top teams. Technical skills and soccer IQ become the differential. This is where just having athletes vs soccer player starts to matter. So u13 and up, it’s about how many technical players you have and what positions.

Arlington at the younger ages will beat most of the clubs in the area just on athleticism. When they go to the big tournaments and play teams that play soccer they will lose. The knock against Arlington is they do not develop the huge pool of players they have. They just rely on athleticism.

So your kid didn’t make the team because he isn’t an athlete?

Or perhaps HE didn't make the team because we are talking about girls teams?

Arlington develops its players just as well as the next club. This whole relying on athleticism and not skill line of reasoning is so overplayed and frankly not true. When you start going around to other parts of the country and see the youth players on the top teams in those markets, you will understand. Most of the high-level girl players in the DMV are relatively small compared to everywhere else.

Agreed. Arlington has big athletic and talented girls. Same with a Loudoun. It’s a reason why they’re so successful. The Arlington 08s are still an excellent team. Everyone knows size and physicality matters and wins games at the younger age groups. It’s how Arlington stays a powerhouse through the older age groups.

The lack of bashing Loudoun 08 and 07's has turned towards Arlington. This is the first sign that FCV is moving to Springfield in the near future.

Arlington vs Mclean will be the final for NCC U12 Girls with Arlington winning the tournament then everyone will shut up about Arlington

No when Arlington consistently wins almost all of their games in the DA at the older age groups including against FCV then maybe people will be impressed.

Lack of bashing? No idea what you are trying to say in this post.

I’m saying that FCV is turning its sites on attacking the club that they will compete over players with.

No Arlington’s skill level is lower vs other top clubs in this area. It is very noticeable if you go to practices at other clubs. No one is making the argument that athleticism is not important. What they are saying is all top teams will be athletic. Arlington did not invest practice time into developing individual skills and that is why the Red 08’s are losing in tournaments against similar athleticism. Obviously you have not seen Arlington because they do have size. If you see top clubs from outside the area(Jeff Cup and Wags top flights), their kids are skilled and athletic.

It’s not like this is some big secret. You can ask coaches at other clubs. They will tell you the same thing.
