I feel more anxious than excited. The pick is going to make it break this election . Praying that they don't screw it up.

“The pick is going to make or break this election.” Bless your heart. Although if the VP pick is the designated scapegoat, who would say yes?

JD Vance.

Exactly! A VP can definitely hurt. Don't think anyone mentioned us JD levels bad, but some are definitely smarter choices than others.

No they don't. They look like the 60 year old men they are.
Seasoned looking is good.
Babyfaced has people thinking too young and inexperienced not capable of being presy

Kelly looks older at 60 than Cooper does at 67.

That is an eight-year-old photo of Cooper from his official web bio. He has aged terribly in office. Looks old and haggard now.

That would be Mark Kelly. Navy test pilot, combat pilot who flew assault missions over Iraq during Desert Storm, Astronaut who flew several missions into outer space. No other candidate can meet that level of badass.

A lot of baggage

What kind of baggage? With Gaby Giffords, they gave an incredible story.

I don't think it's necessary to be a badass. I think it's more important to be able to distill complex topics into simple catchphrases that people can understand. Pete is good at that, but no earthly way is there going to be a WOC/Gay dude ticket that can win anything (it will frankly be a worse choice than JD). Shapiro is out. That leaves Kelly, Collins, Walz. My money is on Walz; there is something very relatable about him.

Cooper is still in the mix.

I love Ossoff so much but I don’t think he’s ready.

Citation please?

Look up the Mayorkas impeachment and how they did not hold a trial in the Senate.

Plus— and I love Tim Kaine and think he is great in VA and will 100% vote for him in November— Kaine didn’t connect. He didn’t have the necessary charisma.

Spot on. No “rizz” as the kids say. He got his chance and doesn’t get another one.

That said, why isn’t Mark Warner in the running?

Beshear really makes the most sense to me. He’s young likable and from deep red state

It will be Shapiro’s if he wants it. Swing state governor, very moderate. Kamala needs a white man in order to not completely hemmorage white men to Trump.

Republicans will go full out in painting a black woman as antisemitic/anti-Israel. Shapiro neutralizes that entire line of attack, plus will keep Jewish donors engaged/excited.

AIPAC?

I like the Beshear option too—more than Walz. Beshear has proven bipartisan appeal. Walz does not.

Untrue. Walz was ranked 7th most bipartisan in the House, when he represented a red-leaning mostly rural district. “He speaks rural, suburban, and urban.”

A good overview of what he’d bring to the ticket: https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/tim-walz-kamala-harris-vp-blue-wall-rcna163436

Strong connections in the House and with his fellow governors seem like an asset.

What about the sexual harassment claim he settled last year? I’m sure that would resurface and it’s not a good look for Dems.

It should be Whitmer. alas, a two women ticket will only happen in another 96 years or so.
