Golden Bachelorette

He should have left earlier on but I think he just got carried away by the fun with the guys, the excitement, and wasn't really thinking fully until that weird ceremony at the beach (not a cool move by producers!) Meanwhile I feel like he was by far her favorite. Also didn't like what she had to say about her dh making everything an adventure when she clearly meant material goods and fancy travel, especially since he was a conman.

That ceremony on the beach was really cruel. The producers are jerks for making Pascal do that when they already knew he was guarded.

It would have been inappropriate for any guy at that stage of the process.Joan should be mad at them. They were trying to manipulate (the audience and) Pascale’s feelings. It backfired.

That is we don’t expect them to look 40. They are allowed to just age, like a fine wine. But women literally need to be sliced and injected with toxins in hopes of attracting a man even close to their age.

It is infuriating. Why do you all go along with that misogynistic mindset??

I thought Nancy looked very much her own age with the exception of some botox.

Agree and I think she should avoid having procedures. She is aging well.

Okay.

(Why are you all assuming the role of female appearance critics?)

Weird. Shouldn't your son have been working on his own apps?

Yes, he was, but I had to supply the nagging!

Or it could be she appears to be aging well because she has had procedures that have been done well. Everyone criticizes cosmetic enhancements when they are noticeable but lots of women get them and they can be subtle and effective. I do agree she’s the most attractive.

Pascal is the ultimate winner. I think he was very genuine with his emotions and faced some hard things. Telling Joan the truth was the kindest thing to do. He’s not leaving her with vague worries and questions. He is not in love with, will not be in love with her, but loves her as a friend. That bonding ceremony was really a cold move by the producers. I hope Pascal finds a companion who can be a partner and not a helpless waif, which is really what Joan wants to be.

Chock so creepy, so self absorbed, so much not going to leave Wichita.

🚩TRO Guy🚩 I still find him arrogant but I think he benefits from Chock being so overtly alpha arrogant. He’s very boring to me as well.

I’ve been assuming Joan will choose Chock, but I’m wondering if the edit isn’t a con. Joan is a lifelong Marylander and she has made it really clear she’s not leaving. Guy is definitely more portable, and even though I suspect Joan’s MAGA, I don’t think she’d be able to tolerate Wichita MAGA life, even for 1-2 weeks a month. I’m giving 80% odds to Guy. Guy likely has more money but I doubt either of them would marry without a serious pre-nup. Joan’s husband died before sentencing but I’m sure he had enormous legal fees. Joan’s presenting that she has plenty of money but it’s impossible to know. Even with a fairly high net worth the legal fees, and the loss of his earning power for another 5-10 years may have made a significant dent. They had 4 kids to put through college. It may be down to whether he had a large life insurance policy. I guess we’ll never know.

Also, why Nancy? Why not one of the more interesting and expressive women? The show runners have just made such bad decisions all the way through. I think they must not have done good research about why people watched the first season. I’m going to finish the season but I’m wondering if they haven’t ruined “Golden.” Between Gerry being a con artist and the baffling choices to make this season as dull as possible, I just don’t know if there will be an appetite for more.

You guys are so cynical. They picked Nancy because she is Joan’s ACTUAL real friend. She needed someone she knew and trusted at this point in the process

This is not “call central casting and get us a friend character who will be dramatic and secure good ratings.”

Jeez

What? It is always "this."

But maybe they would’ve done better with someone a little more wholesome like a Sally Field type but all of this is being orchestrated by the producers to make us continue to watch. Of course they knew she was never going to pick Charles for example, and they probably knew that Pascal would never be interested in her, but they wanted to keep him in the mix.

The producers chose Joan because they felt she was the best available option. There are other factors at play here aside from "what they think the American public wants to see" regarding who they could choose for Golden Bachelorette. There were only so many options if choosing from the Golden Bachelor pool of women, which they needed to do. And some would likely be ruled out due to personality/emotional stability issues that could make things difficult (Leslie seemed a bit insecure and that would make filming a whole show around her challenging and potentially impossible to do without running over budget). Others would rule themselves out by simply not wanting to do it (Faith is amazing, but I bet after Gerry she's like "My horses and I are good" lol). And they needed someone attractive enough (the Susans and the Kathys are nowhere near attractive enough to even begin to interest the kind of men they need to cast -- this is going to be hard enough to do anyway given that successful older men tend to prefer younger women (exhibit A, Pascal's much, much younger wife)).

Nancy is more attractive than Joan. Wonder if she was asked or ever being considered.

She's not thirsty that way.

Pascal's wife is younger but also looks like a really down to earth, natural woman. Tbh I did not expect her to look that way at all. She is nothing like Joan, her opposite.

The French aesthetic is not plastic, it's much more natural. From the get-go I never thought Joan was remotely Pascal's type.

Yes. I thought Pascal looked like he was Botoxed too. Definitely an eye lift, maybe a face lift. Maybe Guy too.

But no one was talking about it.

Women endure such scrutiny over their appearance, in all circumstances and at any age.

So over it!

Women are the ones who set these standards for women. Not men. Men buy into it but it’s women who keep this going…..
