Golden Bachelorette

Notice that no one is talking about the guys’ work.

That is we don’t expect them to look 40. They are allowed to just age, like a fine wine. But women literally need to be sliced and injected with toxins in hopes of attracting a man even close to their age.

It is infuriating. Why do you all go along with that misogynistic mindset??

Pascal is the ultimate winner. I think he was very genuine with his emotions and faced some hard things. Telling Joan the truth was the kindest thing to do. He’s not leaving her with vague worries and questions. He is not in love with, will not be in love with her, but loves her as a friend. That bonding ceremony was really a cold move by the producers. I hope Pascal finds a companion who can be a partner and not a helpless waif, which is really what Joan wants to be.

Chock so creepy, so self absorbed, so much not going to leave Wichita.

🚩TRO Guy🚩 I still find him arrogant but I think he benefits from Chock being so overtly alpha arrogant. He’s very boring to me as well.

I’ve been assuming Joan will choose Chock, but I’m wondering if the edit isn’t a con. Joan is a lifelong Marylander and she has made it really clear she’s not leaving. Guy is definitely more portable, and even though I suspect Joan’s MAGA, I don’t think she’d be able to tolerate Wichita MAGA life, even for 1-2 weeks a month. I’m giving 80% odds to Guy. Guy likely has more money but I doubt either of them would marry without a serious pre-nup. Joan’s husband died before sentencing but I’m sure he had enormous legal fees. Joan’s presenting that she has plenty of money but it’s impossible to know. Even with a fairly high net worth the legal fees, and the loss of his earning power for another 5-10 years may have made a significant dent. They had 4 kids to put through college. It may be down to whether he had a large life insurance policy. I guess we’ll never know.

Also, why Nancy? Why not one of the more interesting and expressive women? The show runners have just made such bad decisions all the way through. I think they must not have done good research about why people watched the first season. I’m going to finish the season but I’m wondering if they haven’t ruined “Golden.” Between Gerry being a con artist and the baffling choices to make this season as dull as possible, I just don’t know if there will be an appetite for more.

You guys are so cynical. They picked Nancy because she is Joan’s ACTUAL real friend. She needed someone she knew and trusted at this point in the process

This is not “call central casting and get us a friend character who will be dramatic and secure good ratings.”

Jeez

Guy kisses like a second grader.

She wears too much makeup (maybe to cover up a bad complexion)?

Jeez

It’s a reality television show. it literally survives or dies based on ratings. So yes, it very much is call casting and get us a friend character who will be dramatic and secure good ratings.

Some of the guys had work done too, and she only kept the fit looking ones. The issue is Joan is pretty vain herself, and she had terrible cosmetic work done. Some of the golden bachelor women looked much better than she did with less work, and many women irl do too. It’s just not what Bachelor producers wanted.

Guy def has veneers and I bet pascal has had an eye lift. Chock probably has not had anything.

The producers chose Joan because That’s what they think the American public wants to see. Nobody wants to see a shriveled old lady or someone who’s overweight. But maybe they would’ve done better with someone a little more wholesome like a Sally Field type but all of this is being orchestrated by the producers to make us continue to watch. Of course they knew she was never going to pick Charles for example, and they probably knew that Pascal would never be interested in her, but they wanted to keep him in the mix.

Other countries feature much more authentic looking characters and news anchors.

We are either very shallow, or underestimated.

For sure Pascal has had an eye lift.

He's blunt -- which in this case, was saying too much to Joan. He could have just said that he isn't going to get to that level with her. But, to put the dagger in her by saying "It's YOU, not me." That was harsh.

Pascal was in it for the fun and the publicity. I think he's used to dating people much younger than he is, and younger than Joan. His last wife (with whom he had children) was 18 years younger than him.

I think he's looking for someone who is FUN! with a capital "F". Joan is a more quiet, reserved, proper person. She likes to be with someone who adds color to her life. But, Pascal is looking for someone who brings pizzazz and drama and who is eye-candy.

Re: Chock. At first I thought he was just "aw shucks" midwestern. But, the way he presses her -- both physically leaning into her personal space and verbally pressing her... it feels like pressure.

Joan picks him, but it does have echos of Devin -- the guy who is REALLY into the lead, but then fades out.

Chock is not a Devin creep. But, he needs to tone it down. It's too much.

Ii'm not sure how you got "Pascal is looking for fun, fun, fun" out of all of that. I got that he was a damaged guy who pretends to be fun and whose kids signed him up for GB so he went along with it despite not being into it. I think we were watching two different shows.

We all know she is picking Chock despite all the red flags. He is controlling and kind of scary honestly. I'm still Team Jordan, even though he's no longer on the show. It would be amazing and if he and Leslie really are having a fun fling.

He should have left earlier on but I think he just got carried away by the fun with the guys, the excitement, and wasn't really thinking fully until that weird ceremony at the beach (not a cool move by producers!) Meanwhile I feel like he was by far her favorite. Also didn't like what she had to say about her dh making everything an adventure when she clearly meant material goods and fancy travel, especially since he was a conman.

That ceremony on the beach was really cruel. The producers are jerks for making Pascal do that when they already knew he was guarded.

I thought Nancy looked very much her own age with the exception of some botox.

Agree and I think she should avoid having procedures. She is aging well.

Yes that was unnecessary. They should have had a fun date like others.
