They both have friends there and wanted a place that was just theirs, in an exciting city. Much easier for Joan to hop on a train there than for Chock to fly in from Kansas City. I suspect this will all get old for him fast. Especially since she seems to be a first-rate gold digger who brings little to the table.

It's not supposed to be sustainable when the plan is to rent there for one year.

They have said they will likely get married in late 2025 or early 2026. They know they aren't going to be energetic and healthy enough to commute to NYC forever. I personally think it is wise to put a year trial period on it. Chock strikes me as unrealistically intense about being with Joan, but...so what!? If they break up in 8 mos, oh well...they had fun along the way. If they make it work, then hooray for them. If you can find someone you actually like being with in your 60s, 70s and 80s, that is a miracle to enjoy.

They are happy at the moment. Joan is capable of making her own decisions. Let them figure it out.

Joan was appealing on the Golden Bachelor, so I can see why producers liked her. But she came across very differently on the Golden Bachelorette, which is a shame. Shallow and not particularly likable.
