AGAIN. She is NOT in Federal custody, because she has not been convicted in a trial yet. She is in pretrial custody at the DC jail. Therefore, she will not be listed on the FBOP website. |
| For the incident in the park, did a police officer just happen to catch her or did someone call the police after observing? If it was two adults, they other person must have been charged too. If the other person was a minor, the arrest wouldn't be public record. |
I believe the court docs from 2019 are likely public record. |
What county was the arrest? Virginia court records are online except for Fairfax County I think. I’m guessing daddy got it expunged so she could continue her volunteer work at school and elsewhere. |
|
The 2019 arrest was mentioned in one of the articles as was the arrest location. Should be able to figure it out from there. Was also mentioned upthread if you want to search. If you do a deep dive, feel free to share with the class.
She failed to appear in 2019 so was convicted. Her father personally got it reversed on appeal. |
Chesterfield County |
I think the Chesterfield County Commonwealths attorney and judge have some culpability here as they would have to agree to the dismissal. The average citizen would not have been able to obtain a dismissal of the charges. |
| The Chesterfield County Commonwealths attorney was the first woman elected as Commonwealths attorney in Chesterfield and she agreed to the dismissal of the charges against Hoppe. I wonder if the incurious media will hold her to account. |
|
And Axios has picked up the story:

Here is the order denying her request to be released. She tried to argue her father could be a “significant third party custodian” and that she graduated from UVA with 2 degrees so she’s an upstanding citizen and should be released pending trial. Judge said no. So yeah, she’s using her connections as excuses. Unreal. https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.dcd.253696/gov.uscourts.dcd.253696.11.0.pdf |
| She has MS? |
I don't remember seeing this detail before.
"The investigation further revealed that Ms. Hoppe allegedly used her own minor daughters as a lure to engage with the undercover officer, whom she believed to have access to a minor child." |
Wait what did she do wrong again?
|
| The Axios article says she’s being defended by a federal public defender |

I wonder if Hoppe's father has the credentials to represent her in Federal Court. Attorneys have to be licensed to represent clients in Federal Court. I would assume that he has the credentials and considering his wealth and status, he will be able to to negotiate at least a plea bargain that will drop some of the charges in exchange for a guilty plea.
If Hoppe is found guilty on all of the charges against her, she would probably spend the rest of her life in prison, so the government has tremendous leverage to extract a guilty plea for certain charges in exchange for dropping other charges to create a scenario where she could be released from prison before retirement age. The evidence shows that Hoppe was feeding her mind with child pornography for a number of years and is continually fantasizing about performing the most vile and despicable acts on children. There is no combination of medical procedures that can cure Hoppe of this desire. The only thing in Hoppe's favor is that the government doesn't have an actual victim, but they do have evidence of her state of mind and she can legally be convicted of the crimes if the circumstances she believed to exist, even though the circumstances actually did not exist. Maybe the Federal prosecutor will look into Hoppe's 2019 undressing arrest. If it is found that a minor was also involved in that incident, that might be enough to trigger a much longer sentence from the judge, since there was an actual victim. |
