They don’t (and never did) have a lot of money. No one talks to them in Richmond anymore. There are plenty of people (including me) that have known them 40 years. Their parents are nasty and have always been rude and awful people.

JOINT PROPOSED SENTENCING SCHEDULE
The United States of America, by and through its attorney, the United States Attorney for
the District of Columbia, and counsel for the defendant, Ms. Ubong Akpan, respectfully file this
joint proposed sentencing schedule pursuant to the Court’s December 4, 2024 Minute Order.

1. The defendant is scheduled for surgery in January or February 2025.1 Defense
counsel is scheduled for trial in January 2025, and government counsel is expected to begin a
trial in front of Judge Leon on March 18, 2025.

2. Given the uncertainty regarding the defendant’s date of surgery and subsequent
recovery time, the parties request a sentencing date in late March. The parties, including the
Probation Officer, are available for sentencing on March 27, March 28, or April 2, 2025.
3. The parties request that sentencing memoranda be due two weeks before the
sentencing hearing, with replies due one week before the hearing.

It sounds like you are saying that she was refusing treatment or evaluated by professionals and found not to be a risk to herself and others. These details are important ... sometimes a horrible case leads to a positive change in the law.

Was there really no outward sign that she was at risk of harming others?? I believe what you are saying but it is just hard to believe that the person who was caught to relatively easily was successful t concealing everything in the past.

Her father Eppa, PERSONALLY got her 2019 CONVICTION reversed on appeal. It was an opportunity for compelled treatment and evaluation and perhaps being put on a sex offender registry and having some degree of ongoing monitoring.

Exactly. And it could have led to compelled evaluation and treatment. There are few opportunities to intervene re: mentally ill adults, this was a powerful one. Her family is directly responsible for that appeal and the PR attempts on here to cast THEM as heroic victims is disgusting.

Can we talk about how online porn/chat sites also play a role here? without those forums she might not have gone that far. they bear some responsibility.

No, but the internet certainly enhanced their ability to mutually reinforce their illness and exchange CSA materials, thus creating a market for it. And online porn can absolutely have a role in creating and maintaining obsessions.

Has anyone seen any photos of her father? It's interesting: you can find photos of all their ancestors starting from Eppa Hunton who lived in the 19th century. But there's very little info online about her father Eppa V.

Hoppe's plea agreement calls for Hoppe to serve 135 months in prison and 10 years of supervised release. In addition, Hoppe will have to register as a sex offender for a minimum period of 25 years. Hoppe's psychosexual evaluation has delayed the sentencing. Hoppe's counsel must have determined that the resulting evaluation report was favorable and wants the resulting report on the record. Report could sway the judge to suspend some months/years from Hoppe's prison sentence.
