Was MT in the NAACP debate?

No that's not possible. Because there is no actual race that is happening. School board elections are nonpartisan and candidates are expected to run based on political part. It's just that Arlington turned it into a partisan effort. And the Democrat candidate always wins. For those that feel strongly that the candidates presented aren't good enough, then they need to encourage someone they do want to run. If an independent wants to run, all they need to do is say they don't support the Missing Middle initiative because of impacts on schools, environment, blah, blah, whatever else the people in N Arl go on about. That person could be assured of a win. It doesn't matter that the SB doesn't get a vote on Missing Middle it's the idea that someone elected who says they don't support it has been elected an they will hold out hope they will weigh in to the county board and the county board will listen. |
Not that there was any doubt that she would get the Dem nod, but Mary Kadera won the caucus that day. |
MM doesn't have anything to do with this race, but yes, you did try to distract again. Independents historically don't win in Arlington because this is a Blue town. Whoever wins the caucus will most definitely win the election. But maybe this time with two terrible candidates, someone who is a true progressive may prevail. Probably not, but hope springs eternal. Like I said upthread, yes that was me, Miranda is going to have to prove to me that she is an actual Democrat before I will even consider voting for her. |
Yes she was because I watched it live along with other people participating virtually. |
do you have a link to it? what did miranda say that was racist? |
I found this. Starts at 1:35. I think there may have been one more.

The last Republican on the school board was about 15-20 years ago. But that was before the caucus was implemented. |
No, I actually addressed that outright in my post. ![]() It doesn't matter that they are not linked, people in N Arl just want to vote someone in who opposed Missing Middle and it doesn't matter where they vote them in. Heck they would vote them in as PTA president at this point! It will make them feel better. Like they are being heard and they tried to do something. |
There was one more NAACP candidate forum with just the Education Committee. That's where I think DP felt there was some racist sentiment coming from Miranda. I just listened to this link. Thank you. Just FYI Miranda was against SROs in schools in 2001. |
I mean 2021. |
She seems very progressive on this link. Talking about access to housing before MM was even a hot topic. I'm so confused. |
She had to be. She was seeking the NAACP endorsement. She messed up the first time with the Ed Committee. I hope someone can find that link, but it was a reverse face. She wasn’t so progressive elsewhere. Truth be told, the naacp isn’t going to endorse anyone who is pro SRO. |
can someone post the link to the Ed Committee forum? or at least tell us what Miranda said that was not so progressive? |
I can't find the Ed Forum debate. I have no idea why it was pulled. But I remember she came off as tone deaf and not really interested in talking about systemic racism in our schools.
It looks like in the second discussion posted, she did an about face. Even to her, it did not look good. |
