Johnny Depp trial in Fairfax County

As someone else said, he WAS Johnny freaking Depp. He could have cleaned up, set up his big Diane Sawyer sit down and talked about how he was abused and ruined by a crazy woman blah blah blah.

During Me Too movement there wasn't any media that would even consider a possibility of a man being abused in a relationship with a woman. There still isn't. It would be extremely risky to air an interview like that.
He will look bad after this trial or a bit worse. But, she'll look 100% worse than how she was percieved when she wrote that article.

The Me too movement was started by women about a woman’s issue. It’s like saying to include white people in the BLM movement because they have similar issues.

To me, It shows how we are all socialized to be more sympathetic to protecting men’s feelings and dignity than women’s. They both behaved badly but she is being blamed for everything in the toxic relationship. He was twice her age when they met, consumed mind boggling amounts of alcohol and drugs for decades, and is not taking any responsibility for his part in the mess. He had other ways of redressing his sense of being wronged than dragging them both through a public trial.

I am arguing with my teenage daughter trying to get her to see how unfair it is to blame everything on Amber. DD and her friends think Amber is to blame for ruining his illustrious career while I believe he did that in his own. Amber’s career and reputation has been savaged as well. DD tells me that the internet is siding with Johnny.

The world wants a villain (preferably female), while shared culpability, pesky details and nuance just get get in the way of one sided story telling.

I disagree. We are only now hearing Depp’s side of things while Amber’s take has been out there for over 5 years. This is the first time people really got the opportunity to compare what went on in that relationship from both Amber and Jonny’s perspective.

They’re both nuts. No one heard Depp’s side up until now.

What are you talking about Twitter has been pushing Depp's side for months. I agree with the other PP that its revolting people are acting like he's an innocent. AT BEST he is a drunken drug addict who left the mother of his children to date a hot crazy chick in her 20s and engaged in a mutually abusive relationship with her. That is the BEST possible interpretation of his behavior.

Only the red pillers are supporting him.

Who knew there were so many female red pillers People support him because he's open about his lifestyle and addictions, he seems genuine. People don't support Amber because she presents herself as a morally superior victim, who was calculated enough to escalate arguments and put her camera and audio on.

You know its weird in no argument has anyone been able to escalate me to screaming and breaking stuff. My husband either.

Are either of you on drugs?

Who cares?! Is this an excuse now for abuse? He needs to grow the f* up. He's an old man and it's time to accept the responsibility for his behavior.

DP…I don’t think it’s an excuse but people on this thread have said he was so drugged up he likely had no idea what he did while drugged.

As has been said in the thread repeatedly, he is going forward with this case to expose her behavior. It’s not about the story that she wrote.

That’s not a cause of action though. If he wanted to expose her actions he could’ve written a book or an article.

Or sat down with a new outlet. All those would have paid him rather than the millions he's paying.

This whole thing smacks of trying to punish his ex (who has to accrue her own legal fees) and it's not a good look.

A book or an interview doesn’t require her to answer his claims. Dragging it out in court makes her have to defend herself.

A bit of a Pyrrhic victory though. These trials have confirmed he cheated on Vanessa with this nut and he’s on a seemingly un-hireable amount of drugs.

I’ve said from the beginning of this thread that he just doesn’t care what this does to him/his reputation. His sole focus is embarrassing her and getting revenge.

I agree. He feels he has already lost everything and he want her to experience the same loss. Those two need to never cross paths again.

I get the sense not many Heard campers were victims of domestic abuse.

I was.

I was covered in bruises, I had to apply body makeup to cover to go to work. Police would get called by neighbors. Landlord would call and say the neighbors say I might die and they were scared for my life (from hearing my screams). Where was my retreat? THE BATHROOM.

Oh God yes, I can very much relate to Johnny Depp hiding in the bathroom. His testimony about struggling to close the bathroom door to barricade himself basically in there, sleeping in there, having to prepare and think of how he can carefully crack it open, how Amber claimed she was hurt outside the door. It's just like the movie The Shining when it happens to you, believe me. When Nicholson said he was hurt, please open the door. Mine once said I'm bleeding, I'm bleeding, help, please open the door. I knew he had a butcher knife. I remember hanging out the window wishing I could climb down and screaming for my life . .

So please, if you have zero experience with a really violent domestic abuser, don't pass judgment. I really believe Depp.

They asked me what I thought about a series of celebrities: James Franco, Amber Heard, Johnny Depp, Winona Ryder, and Charlie Sheen. Then they asked me a series of question about DV, the first amendment, and libel, and then they asked me about the Heard op-ed and what I thought of Heard / Depp.

I got the same phone call awhile back too. The pollster was asking all kinds of questions (really long winded) on the same celeb list PP mentioned above.

I thought it was so odd but after seeing this post it makes sense

Weird. It does seem like it would ruin the jury pool.

Too bad I don’t live in Virginia. I knew nothing about any of this and didn’t know Heard existed or that Depp was ever married.

Most women support Amber, only frustrated men support him. And woman red pillar is an oxymoron -we don't fantasize and plan regulation that would make rape legal on our property, which is a fundamental view of the red pillers. We're not desperate and frustrated if we don't have sex and we don't think we're entitled to sex just because we demand it.

That is simply not true. She's highly unlikeable - hardly anyone reasonable can sympathize with her.

He has a huge fan base built over the course of 35 years, that includes both women and men and has nothing to do with a small group of "frustrated men".
If anything, frustrated men would love to see someone like him fail. Until very recently he could have had any women he wanted, without any effort.

So a man's worth is all about how much effort it takes to have sex with a woman, I see. No wonder all the incels feel triggered by this trial.

The effort, in this case, is using the red pill approach. He never needed it.
Sorry if you're um...triggered by that

I have helped qomen get away from abusers. I’ve alao had to deal with an abusive narcissist to get a loved one to safety. I’ve seen the narcissist testify. Amber does a lot of the things he did. I am not excusing Depp’s behavior. They’ve both been horrible but I do think she’s manipulative.
