All of the Virginia DA teams lost all of their games. Wash Spirit 0-4, 2-6, and VDA did even worse : 0-7, 2-3, 1-7, 0-10. FCV was more competitive, losing 0-3 and the the other three age groups 0-1.

The parents I talked to were just happy (or not) depending on if their daughter played (or not).

The VA ECNL teams were all in the OBGC tournament this weekend. Looks like they dominated the older age groups but at U13-U14 none of them won their brackets.

Maybe Northern Virginia just isn't that good at soccer.

They had their first set of club v club scrimmage versus/at Fredericksburg two Saturdays ago. Since it is August with beach traffic and a couple fender benders it took most parents over two hours to get down there.

Last weekend and this upcoming weekend up in Boyds for tournaments.

Only other scheduled scrimmage is back down in Fredericksburg in a few weeks.

Are you happy with that new model? Seems like a ton of practice with no regular games.

Our U9 Boys Elite team played in Rush for the Cup. Won all 3 games. They didn't play a championship because of other age groups cancelling their games. Maybe they needed our turf field for make up games. Not sure. Anyway...we were only team to win all 3 games. We were supposed to get medals but the tournament said No because a championship wasn't played...or something like that. What's up with that? What are they going to do with the medals? Add that to referees not showing up. Referees not enforcing the build out line consistently (sometimes they were sometimes they weren't. One refree said that coaches received an email that they shouldn't be enforced but the referees were not told that.), the host club not providing Field Marshalls, etc and Rush for the Cup was one of the worst tournaments I've been to in a while.

Just curious, what are your dues now that you aren't officially a part of a league.

LOL

not sure who you are getting BRYC info from but we got a full schedule of games for the girls U9-12. We are off this weekend (but just played two tournaments in the last two weeks) and then have at least 8 games in the region (mclean, Fredericksburg, Richmond, Annandale, and then games at Robinson). We have been really happy with the training, coaching and the team. Plus the kids and parents are really nice.

Two of the Wash Spirit DA games were canceled (U16/17 and U18/19).

Arlington 2004 CCL girls beat Mclean ECNL, BRYC ECNL, Bethesda ECNL and Maryland United ECNL to win the championship in that bracket.

Arlington as a club won 2 top flights at OBGC, BRYC won 7 top flights. Oh and looks like BRYC 02 ECNL beat Arlington CCL 8-1.

I have an 04 girl so I don't particularly care about the other age groups.

Glad to see my old Club, BRYC, doing well! That's impressive given the huge difference in player pool size and $$$$ between those two clubs.

this is a weird comment? BRYC is pulling kids from all over the area- there are kids on our team from Woodbridge, Arlington, Ashburn, Hearndon, and Fairfax. While Arlington might have more concentrated wealth- BRYC is not exactly hurting for money.

Does Bryc have 200+ kids come out for a single age group tryout ? Do they have 6 teams per age group? Loudoun and Arlington do, as well as DA teams, this generates more $$/income for the Club. I am not talking about parent's wealth in this situation, but a club as a $-maker.

^^ it was a compliment to the club, btw.

As the PP noted, not really a warranted one. BRYC has an excellent reputation at older ages for girls, so it draws strong players from a wide area, even beyond Fairfax County. And I would be shocked if Arlington has 200+ players at tryouts for girls at the U13 and above age groups.

Not sure about the rest of you, but large clubs that field 3-4 competitive teams 2-3 crappy ones just to line their wallets annoys me. I get the fact that those families can afford it, but it's creating false hopes for some of these kids thinking they have a shot moving from the 6th team to the 1st. Call it like it is, a higher level rec league.
