It couldn't happen to a more deserving guy. They covered this on WAMU this morning. They said the City Council had an ethics investigation running on this issue and suddenly dropped it. This usually happens when a criminal investigation is initiated. It will be interesting to see who would run to take his spot. He's been the Ward 2 rep for a loooooooooooong time and sits on the board of WMATA. |

Whomever wins the Dem primary will probably only get 25-30% of the vote, max. It will be a very crowded field. It will be interesting to see if Georgetown still has the political muscle to get solidly behind one candidate. |

Evans has managed to skate by for years despite a certain oleaginous reputation. But I believe that the thin ice is finally melting around him. A good-governance challenger can knock him off in the next primary election -- unless the FBI public integrity unit gets there first (which is a distinct possibility after the Post article). |
