PG County "Lucky Loser" of Amazon HQ2

Anonymous
Interesting article from the Washington Post. I can see this happening, especially with the ridiculous rent increases in the area surrounding Crystal City.

"Prince George’s didn’t make Amazon’s list. But the county could still be a winner."

Prince George’s officials felt snubbed when their county was the lone jurisdiction in the Washington region not picked as a finalist for Amazon’s second headquarters. Now, though, they say Prince George’s could be the “lucky loser” of the retailing giant’s move to Crystal City.

The abundance of Metro stations and low housing prices in the county, which is home to the state’s flagship university, could attract new employees and businesses that Amazon will bring. But experts say that to best capitalize on opportunities presented by Amazon’s second headquarters, Prince George’s must make a concerted effort that includes marketing, improving its schools and boosting workforce development.

Not really. Yes, for the childless. No for everyone else. The same equation it has always been.

Give it a rest Maryland. You lost - go home, figure where you went wrong with the FBI and Amazon, then come back next year with a plan. But all this whining is annoying.

Im the OP, and live in VA. I dont see this as whining, I see it as an opportunity for the county.

That's some desparate grasping.

You could not pay me to raise my kids in PG.

sure why not, more loser than lucky but sour grapes comes in many forms.

PG at its best is similar to the Route 1 corridor in Fairfax and Prince William, which is better positioned to benefit from HQ2.

Uh Donald Trump personally intervenedto keep the FBI out of Maryland for the sake of his hotel so I am not sure I understand pp’s characterization that we need to “figure it out.”

Noooo. I am probably not the only renter in VA trying to triangulate best schools in PG county with more affordable housing than NoVa. I'd take better schools but i really do want a house or even townhouse under $500k.

PG county is fine. Of my neighbors that have raised kids in the neighborhood, 2 of the kids are highly specialized doctors, one is in dental school and one is in medical school.

Not bad for the worst schools EVER as some would have us believe!

Yeah both of my cousins went to PG county schools and are now doctors. I also know several partners and c-suite execs that currently live there. One c-suite exec's daughter is currently in med school as well.

Yes, just fine. Some of us want better than fine and some can only afford fine.

Anyone can be a partner if they form a partnership, or reside in the C-suite of his or her own company.

Yeah pp maybe your kids will do better, plus you will get to pay 800k for a teeny tiny crappy house. Win win!
