I'm a female who goes to the gym and runs outside. I work out hard and sweat like crazy, so I'm always trying to wear clothes that keep me cool. I've noticed that over the past couple years, more and more women are ditching shorts, in favor of capri length and full length leggings. Why? I usually reserve them for yoga (so no one sees my hooha) and running in cooler weather. Not that I really care, but am I dating myself by sporting my shorts at the gym?

I like the compression and hate looking at my chubby legs.
I have thinner and thicker leggings. |
I don't want to shave!
Don’t want to do deadlifts in shorts. And tights are more comfortable.
Shorts ride up on me, and I don’t want to spend the whole time readjusting. I love work out capris.
I have ghostly white legs.

Many reasons, including containing the jiggle, avoiding short riding up between my thighs, and no shaving.
Mostly, I am more comfortable in them in nearly every way and accept being a bit warmer as a trade off. With a tank top on it's not even that much hotter for me. |
I have old, flabby legs. And shorts are cold.
I also prefer to wear shorts to the gym because those leggings are so hot! DH says they are hopelessly outdated, so I don't wear the shorts anymore and just work out for less time since I'm so hot.
I like the prints on my tights, and I get to avoid seeing my cellulite.
I have spider veins on my legs and don't wear shorts ever.
All of the above. But OP, wear what makes YOU comfortable!
I can't believe no one has brought up not wanting their legs rubbing together on the treadmill. Ugh. I always wear long tights/yoga pants. Whatever they are called today!
Compression. Coverage. Shorts are uncomfortable and out of style.
