Time for the Admin to put us all out of our misery and lock this thread too Then ban all further threads on the matter |
At least your not a gracious loser. |
| When the world is flat guy (aka school grade) is congratulating himself for winning the argument that club teams will use nonexistent groupings, you know it's definitely time to close shop |
Reality is right here. https://www.matchfitsurf.com/age-change-faqs As we move toward the 2026–2027 season and beyond, our goal is for teams to be fully aligned with a player’s school grade whenever possible. This provides greater social continuity, roster stability, and a clearer long-term development pathway. |
Keep reading ... Play-up opportunities on our national level teams will be minimized to safeguard long term player development, competitive integrity, and roster balance. State teams will have greater flexibility. Any consideration for team placement because of age/grade anomalies will be made collaboratively by the Directors and Coaching Staff. When considering a player to play up, the following criteria will guide the decision – Impact on player development, competition level and recruitment opportunities as well as team needs and roster balance. Guiding Principle – All decisions will prioritize what is best for the player and the overall team environment." |

Keep trying,
They're talking about regular players playing up one level or Aug / Sept players playing up 2 levels. This has nothing to do with Aug / Sept players playing up so they can be on the team that's their grade in school. |
That's wishful thinking on your part. See bolded below. | Normal people are interpreting this properly - Aug/Sept kids will play on grade unless they can't because it's playing down which isn't allowed. The caveat language is for Q4 kids wanting to play up which clubs are trying to discourage parents from bugging them about. Everyone knows this. It's very obvious. |
Which league is called matchfitsurf? Only leagues make age bracket groups "Whenever possible" 😄😄🤣 |

The above reads very much like ...
Q: Can a player born between August 1 and September 30 play up if they are in the higher school grade? A: School grade may be considered as part of the evaluation, but the decision to allow a player to play up is ultimately based on technical criteria including the player’s skill, maturity, and readiness for the older age group. Grade alone does not guarantee that a player will play up. |
No, I think the clubs are being cagey on purpose. It's just case-by-case with grade-favor window dressing. Also, the next section makes it clear this is more likely with in-state teams vs. national ones. They don't want to lose nationally from doing this. |
As a coach, I would love to have a solid team, then have some parent come demand I take his kid with 3 left feet to play up so he/she/they can be with their school friends |
If a player isnt good enough to play on their grade in school A team then they play on their grade in school B team. Pretty simple |
Which would be a miracle since their are no grade in school club leagues |
