Me too. I have a family member in LA who works closely with the entertainment industry. I haven't discussed with them yet, but I wonder if they know anyone on the list. I'm also wondering about the East Coast equivalents--you know there has to be a few of these here too. |
Spot on |
DP: are you on meth? |
Preach. And when my 7yo is being insulted because of her skin color and hair texture in her private school, she should just suck it up, because she comes from a "professional black family." Racism and inequality is no longer a thing for the likes of us, right? |
PP said the scams have to end. Not the real accommodations. The scammers are really hurting the kids who need it. |
PP here. I admit, there's a little bit of sick joy. I'm from West LA, but I'm a middle class kid. However, I had friends in those circles, played them in sports leagues, ran into them at parties, etc. I worked my butt off to get into Stanford. Funny, I have a couple friends who are federal prosecutors. They dream of a big RICO case against the mob--but this is even better. ![]() |
Posters seem to forget the tax fraud implications here, which could be huge. The mastermind set up a fraudulent nonprofit and the parents were claiming to have donated to that nonprofit. So if any of these idiots tried to take this deduction off their taxes, OMFG. Bye bye. Don’t pass go, go straight to jail. |
Are you all forgetting the tax evasion? I don’t care if you give 500k to Stanford. But putting it down as a tax deduction? Nah B. That’s beyond the pale.

None of this is surprising.
But my god it’s fun to watch. |
+1 |
You just KNOW some of them did use the tax deduction!!!!! |
Donating money to a university is a tax deduction. |
Let's go - jail time! For the people who seem to think both actresses will skate - none of you know how serious wire and mail fraud is. Add tax fraud to it. *.* I'm getting 12-24 months of good solid orange jumpsuit time. |
"The scheme began to fall apart in October last year when the IRS audited Key Worldwide and began to look into donations made by parents whose children were then admitted to USC. "
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6800929/Mastermind-bragged-getting-800-rich-kids-colleges.html So, this is how s--t hit the fan! The IRS started digging and dug out enough to have this guy wear a wire and sell out his entire clientele. There will be more names coming out, stay tuned. |
Except if you read the complaint or any of the stories - they didn't donate anything to the university. They paid a private corporation for bribe to line individual's pockets. Then they wrote it off as charity donations. Illegal. |
