Virginia referendum - if you hate MAGA, vote YES (even if your mailing says to vote 'No')

Trump is threatening us with a good time.

“If the Democrats get additional seats, they’re going to be making changes at the federal level.”

A major argument in the current redistricting fight is that Texas redrew its maps, and Democrats then responded in stronger Democratic states like California and Virginia, but with even larger seat advantages after the redraws.

Here is the clear comparison of vote share vs seats controlled after maps are drawn:

Texas
Republicans won about 56% of the statewide vote.
After the maps, Republicans hold about 66% of congressional seats.

California
Democrats won about 58% of the statewide vote.
After the maps, Democrats hold about 83% of congressional seats.

Virginia proposed
Democrats won about 52% of the statewide vote.
After the proposed redraw, Democrats could hold 91% of congressional seats, 10 of 11 seats.

That is what makes Virginia stand out.

Texas redraw criticism focused on Republicans turning 56% of the vote into 66% of seats.

But Virginia could turn 52% of the vote into 91% of seats, which would be a much larger gap.

California already shows a strong advantage at 83% of seats, but Virginia would go even further despite being a much closer state politically.

What's also off-putting is Spanberger; she is not honest. This is shocking. No other state is this obvious. Even Texas is 70%, and California is 70%, but VA went 91% !!!

I know that in North Carolina, the vote in the last election was about 50-50, but Republicans have 10 house seats to only 4 for Democrats. That's 72% of house seats for 50% of the vote. I wonder why PP didn't mention this example??!!

Trump and Johnson asked for the support of their MAGA agenda tonight on a tele-rally asking for VA to vote no.

Johnson said “We have to stand up for fair maps and we have to vote no. As your Speaker of the House, I see firsthand every single day how all five of those members are leading the fight on things like lowering costs and securing our borders and making Virginia and America great again.”

Amazing that Johnson has the nerve to talk about fair maps. But that’s MAGA for you. A vote no is to “Make America Great Again” aka MAGA, in their own words. So make no mistake, if you vote no, you are supporting the MAGA agenda 100%.

How could he possibly say this with a straight face?

And what about the D representatives they are gerrymandering out?

Voting no 100% supports MAGA.

And, FWIW, Alabama has 2 out of 7 Dem seats . Presidential vote about 1/3.

They got me at “snuff out the voices of rural Virginians.” For people who know absolutely squat about anything, they can’t seem to shut the h*ll up!

51% That was before the unmitigated disaster of Trump 2 honey. I think you need to be looking at more recent results that returned a two-thirds majority to Dems with fair maps.

So I guess we can agree that a state's popular vote doesn't need to match its congressional representation, and there are lots of examples on both sides of this. All the more reason to vote YES.

Virginia is purple, but it's not dark purple. Vote NO.
