Funniest part? St. John’s was lined up to play Bullis—right until Bellestri was informed the kid transferred. Then he bailed- dropped the game. Pulled the plug like someone scared of getting exposed |
The cost did not factor in at all for the ‘28 goalie - if you know his name you know that. |
This goes against what someone else said which is that he didn’t have a choice leaving Bullis - if that was the case, his Bullis coach would have been advocating for him - probably successfully. So if this is true, he left on his own accord - don’t start a not nice rumor saying otherwise. |
Speaks has a bad reputation for poaching players from area privates. He Even withbHilgy at Prep, I still don’t see the Hoyas scheduling the Cadets. |
Most of the St. John’s contributors were at another DC private school their freshmen year. Terrible development on Military. |
It is interesting how some of the WCAC schools (SJC, Good Counsel, and even PVI) have soaked up a lot of talent that might have considered schools like Bullis, SSSAS, or even MAC schools that occasionally fielded decent teams like Potomac or SAES in the recent past.
I’m sure cost is part of the story. Landon and Prep will likely always attract good players from near (or sometimes far), but hard to argue the trend is toward the WCAC in terms of producing good competition among 5-6 teams each year. |
Some pp said SJ has a 2027 transfer from NL. Is this accurate? |
I agree here. IAC is morphing into a two horse league with Landon and Prep as the clear front-runners. Bullis appears to be making a pivot towards emphasizing football, and basketball. I really thought Bullis was the favorite to win the IAC last spring with their 2025 class but they underachieved. Landon will always remain strong in lacrosse, its in the schools DNA. The new headmaster coming in (starts in the fall of 2026) appears to be pro athletics so expect the Bears to remain very competitive. With the emergence of Good Counsel, and DeMatha now getting back to elite status, the WCAC in my eyes is beginning to prove they are the premier lacrosse conference in the DC area. The league is deeper than the IAC now, which was not the case 5 years ago. Between SJC, GC, DM, SJC, GC, you now have 5 great teams that can battle it out week in and week out. The IAC really now has 2 teams. |
Totally agree and I think cost is a very major part of the story! If you can pay $27,000 (max bc we all know they give ‘discounts’) at SJC, not work as hard, and still get into essentially the same colleges, why would you pay $58,000 and work your tail off at St Albans?? This is why I think Heeter has the hardest lacrosse job in the area - the deck couldn’t be more stacked against him! |
"essentially" the same. This is from Inside Lacrosse and is just the 2025 lax kids who declared they are going to college to play lax. Would really like to see the rest of the graduates to get a true roster comparison. I'm gonna guess the 2 schools don't have essentially the same matriculation list. STA - Colgate, Amherst, Bucknell, Bowdoin 2x SJC - VMI, Navy, MD, Boston, The Mount 2x |
Sta and SJC are entirely two different schools academically.
Sta is in a league of their own. |
St. Albans is clearly one of the few schools who do not compromise their academic integrity for sports.
When you look at the other IAC schools and all of the WCAC schools, it’s obvious that admissions will admit anyone who can help them on the court or field. |
You're forgetting the WCAC wins every offseason. Only real competition for that is Prep. A bunch of middling results = 5 great teams battling it out week in and week out. |
Ok I will amend my comment because I think where people go to college - unless it’s a top 5 university or a pre med program which is irrelevant as no one wants to be a doctor anymore - is becoming more and more obsolete. So instead of essentially the same colleges, I’ll say essentially the same life outcome - so grind for 4 years for almost $300k at STA or enjoy the 4 years for $125k and end up in the same place of life 5 years later. |
Did you read this is how it works online or something? |
