It is interesting how some of the WCAC schools (SJC, Good Counsel, and even PVI) have soaked up a lot of talent that might have considered schools like Bullis, SSSAS, or even MAC schools that occasionally fielded decent teams like Potomac or SAES in the recent past. I’m sure cost is part of the story. Landon and Prep will likely always attract good players from near (or sometimes far), but hard to argue the trend is toward the WCAC in terms of producing good competition among 5-6 teams each year.
I agree here. IAC is morphing into a two horse league with Landon and Prep as the clear front-runners. Bullis appears to be making a pivot towards emphasizing football, and basketball. I really thought Bullis was the favorite to win the IAC last spring with their 2025 class but they underachieved. Landon will always remain strong in lacrosse, its in the schools DNA. The new headmaster coming in (starts in the fall of 2026) appears to be pro athletics so expect the Bears to remain very competitive. With the emergence of Good Counsel, and DeMatha now getting back to elite status, the WCAC in my eyes is beginning to prove they are the premier lacrosse conference in the DC area. The league is deeper than the IAC now, which was not the case 5 years ago. Between SJC, GC, DM, SJC, GC, you now have 5 great teams that can battle it out week in and week out. The IAC really now has 2 teams.
