It is interesting how some of the WCAC schools (SJC, Good Counsel, and even PVI) have soaked up a lot of talent that might have considered schools like Bullis, SSSAS, or even MAC schools that occasionally fielded decent teams like Potomac or SAES in the recent past. I’m sure cost is part of the story. Landon and Prep will likely always attract good players from near (or sometimes far), but hard to argue the trend is toward the WCAC in terms of producing good competition among 5-6 teams each year.
Totally agree and I think cost is a very major part of the story! If you can pay $27,000 (max bc we all know they give ‘discounts’) at SJC, not work as hard, and still get into essentially the same colleges, why would you pay $58,000 and work your tail off at St Albans?? This is why I think Heeter has the hardest lacrosse job in the area - the deck couldn’t be more stacked against him!
"essentially" the same. This is from Inside Lacrosse and is just the 2025 lax kids who declared they are going to college to play lax. Would really like to see the rest of the graduates to get a true roster comparison. I'm gonna guess the 2 schools don't have essentially the same matriculation list. STA - Colgate, Amherst, Bucknell, Bowdoin 2x SJC - VMI, Navy, MD, Boston, The Mount 2x
