I’m hearing “cringy” all over tik tok. Of course, nothing else, just “cringy”. Would you care to elaborate on what made it “cringy”?

I watched and found nothing cringy at all. Maybe it's just a talking point republicans were prepared to blast on social media hoping they could mislead folks who didn't watch?

What's cringy about the married couple talking about their devastation having a miscarriage and then the bleeding wife not being given any medical care due to Trump's policies and judges. I appreciated a man (just like Tim Walz did re: IVF) speaking about how reproductive freedom for women is a man's issue too and will impact men. What's cringey about a young woman explaining how current abortion laws in some states wouldn't have allowed her to get an abortion despite incest when she was raped at 12: "how is it a beautiful thing for a child to give birth to her father's child?"

What was cringy about Warnock's oratory? Or Biden's forceful and emotional speech? Or Jasmine Crockett? Or HRC?

Perhaps they didn't like Harris being humanized by people who've known her for decades? Or Biden being praised by his wife and only surviving daughter?

It appears that some republicans are so used to a diet of cynicism and negativity that genuine joy and hope and unity causes them to cringe. I feel fortunate that I don't feel that way. Several times last night I had to rub tears from my eye or felt genuine happiness and I'm grateful for it.

Which schools? Be specific.

I saw it on TikTok, someone said NYC schools and CA schools i THINK LACS

One college per week closes down completely right now:

I feel like the prior poster may have been referencing the surging Covid-19 numbers, and some schools response.

But I’ve heard neither side address the crisis of universities going out of business entirely.

And? That was his rank in the army.

Are you stupid?

It was not, he retired as a Master Sergeant. You are stupid.

99% of us don’t care or even notice. 🤷 🤷‍♀️

I mean, Melania claims she attended college…and came here legally. You want me to get upset about a job title he held but then didn’t keep because he retired a year “early”?

I do not care

Well, Melania?

Did you know; she posed NUDE?!??? In a bed with: another WOMAN?!??

Sick, sick, SICK!

The positivity was so refreshing!

It was electrifying. Even when Obama was running, I didn't have this feeling of optimism - I hoped he'd win, but I didn't FEEL anything (other than relief when he won; it was fun being out in the streets of DC that night!).

I feel optimistic and proud right now. Terrified still, too, of course. Annoyed and angry, always. But optimistic and proud in a way that is new. This feels like a transformative moment. I hope we can keep it going.

I still have PTSD from 2016.

Are they supposed to teach empty classrooms? There are not enough students for all of them to stay in business.

1. Biden never should have announced the race/sex requirements for his VP pick. If he wanted Harris he should have just picked her and let her merits stand alone. By making that preemptive announcement it put a taint on her that she wasn't necessarily the best person for the job.
2. If Biden was planning to drop out, which I doubt because he fought it tooth and nail, it obviously should have been done much earlier.
3. Once he dropped out and the party decided on Harris, it's time to sell her to the public and that means interviews, public events, press conferences. "She's busy" doesn't cut it.

I disagree. I’m so glad Trump spent $100M on anti-Biden ads and could not use them.

The GOP has not had the time to set up a powerful Hate Machine against Harris as they did with HRC.

She doesn’t need to do interviews. Celebrities and politicians are doing fewer of those. And no way to press conferences filled with MAGA Heads, who would use the platform for their lies and grievances.

Frankly many universities need to close. There are too diploma mills that offer minimal employment prospects with substantial student debt.

But I’ve heard neither side address the crisis of universities going out of business entirely.

Share the list of 50 schools that went out of business.

You will see a chunk that are religious and/or rural. Some have been purchased by NEU.

This has been known a long time in the academic world to any who paid attention to the population cliff / dropoff.

It’s like any company. If you don’t have a market, you will have to close. If you don’t have a niche you are known for, you are on tender ground.

The schools don’t have buyers (students) will close if they have not developed other sources of revenue like summer conferences, etc.

It.Is.Packed. Even the nose bleed seats.

CNN said it was the hottest ticket in town.

A friend of mine who lives in Chicago said there was no way to get a ticket - not even to volunteer. It was full up.

Do you even hear yourself talk?

Do I really want to hear about some couple’s gruesome miscarriage on national television? A man showboating about his feminism so he can get kudos at the next PTA meeting when he’s one of the three Dads who attends? A woman who admittedly is really good-looking talking about her father impregnating her at 12 years old when that’s not the baby’s fault?

Warnock aping a 9th grader impersonating MLK Jr? Raskin abandoning all forms of civility to take a cheap shot at the Republican ticket? That “look at me I’m a hot chick carrying a big book” state senator Mallory from Michigan? Jasmine Crockett’s ongoing rudeness and insolence in that silly getup? Mrs. Clinton stepping on the judicial system to intimidate judges into imprisoning a former President who has immunity for his actions in serving the country and erasing any chance of blackmail?

C’mon.

Ditto on the positive, uplifting speeches. I couldn't watch Trump's RNC speech because it was so doom and gloom to start and then devolved into nonsense. Even on the first night, this is a breath of fresh air.

I'm on tiktok and I think we have to remember that it gives you more of whatever you engage with. So if you watch protest videos, you get more protest videos. Watch conspiracy theories, you get more of them. You can go into settings and reset your FYP to try to get some variety in there.

I do not care

-melania isn’t running to be VP

-if you don’t care that Walz is misrepresenting his rank, you don’t care about honesty and truth.
