I'm looking forward to Bernie and both the Obamas! (Pritzker is fine but usually not a great speaker so I'll keep my expectations low for him.)

Looking forward to their speeches!

On the same night we said goodbye and thank you to President Biden, Chevy announced 1,000 auto jobs are being eliminated in Warren Michigan. The first President to walk a picked line is definitely passing the torch.

Or YouTube live steam.

I usually don't care for convention, but this one has so much energy. It is like a rock festival.

This is the first time I’ve actually wanted to be at the convention!! Usually, it seems like Snoreville to me.

She is the best political strategist and has the unbelievalbe ability to deliver. I am so grateful for her resistence during the Trump era.

Hope tonights better

I’m hearing “cringy” all over tik tok. Of course, nothing else, just “cringy”. Would you care to elaborate on what made it “cringy”?

I watched and found nothing cringy at all. Maybe it's just a talking point republicans were prepared to blast on social media hoping they could mislead folks who didn't watch?

What's cringy about the married couple talking about their devastation having a miscarriage and then the bleeding wife not being given any medical care due to Trump's policies and judges. I appreciated a man (just like Tim Walz did re: IVF) speaking about how reproductive freedom for women is a man's issue too and will impact men. What's cringey about a young woman explaining how current abortion laws in some states wouldn't have allowed her to get an abortion despite incest when she was raped at 12: "how is it a beautiful thing for a child to give birth to her father's child?"

What was cringy about Warnock's oratory? Or Biden's forceful and emotional speech? Or Jasmine Crockett? Or HRC?

Perhaps they didn't like Harris being humanized by people who've known her for decades? Or Biden being praised by his wife and only surviving daughter?

It appears that some republicans are so used to a diet of cynicism and negativity that genuine joy and hope and unity causes them to cringe. I feel fortunate that I don't feel that way. Several times last night I had to rub tears from my eye or felt genuine happiness and I'm grateful for it.

Schools in nyc aren’t open yet. We don’t start until after Labor Day. If you’re taking about liberal arts colleges many haven’t begun either, and there aren’t a lot of those in nyc. CA schools have started back for the most part and I haven’t heard of anywhere closing. Colleges are just starting back.

And? That was his rank in the army.

Are you stupid?

It was not, he retired as a Master Sergeant. You are stupid.

99% of us don’t care or even notice. 🤷 🤷‍♀️

I mean, Melania claims she attended college…and came here legally. You want me to get upset about a job title he held but then didn’t keep because he retired a year “early”?

I do not care

Oh, you saw it on TikTok. Of course it must be true.

It makes me a little mad - ok a lot mad actually - at the way he was just pushed out of the running by the big donors and party insiders. It was shameful the way he was treated. I really have a lot of anger over it that I haven’t processed. I’m not sure what I’m going to do, but last night reignited my rage over how President Biden has been treated the last month.

And I’m not goin to lie, there’s a cynical bitter streak inside me that would be highly amused and perhaps even a little satisfied to see Trump win, as a fitting punishment for what the party insiders and big donors did to Joe.

Hope you were just as mad with how the GOP has treated HRC over the last 39 years. Benghazi, Benghazi, blah, emails, lock her up, blah, blah by the collection of incel white men in the GOP.

I continue to not care either. If this is the line of "attack" the GOP will keep repeating, or Vance tries to beat a dead horse in debates, it's a lost opportunity or shows they don't have much else to go on. The only people who do care are people who are team Trump-Vance and were never voting Dem to begin with.

John Oliver called out Vance for something along these lines. Vance's line of attack had to do with scolding Harris and Walz for showing joy and positivity when bad things existed in the world. It was, as we have come to expect, a weird take on the world. Like none of us can smile if someone, somewhere has reason to be sad. Honestly, I used to see that kind of thinking more among the Democrats, letting the perfect be the enemy of the good. Now it's the Republicans who seem intent on being joyless.
