Which ones aren't valid and how do you know? |
Oh shoot. Was hoping you were talking about a different Valor DS coach. |
LOL |
Agree, they don’t work on player weaknesses or individual improvements. They don’t focus on the basics. Some of this kids don’t have a left foot or basic dribbling techniques down (inside or outside foot). Rec kids at best, but valor will accept them with open arms and deep pockets. |
Again I have no idea what team your child is on but mine has developed very well. He started on a lower team and has worked his way up to the top team in his age group. My friend’s son got bumped to gold (top) team in a different age group over the winter. That they don’t develop kids is just wrong. We are hoping our coach stays with our team next year. |
No, it's not wrong, it just isn't your personal experience. With as many teams and coaches and no coherent training system or philosophy, there will be many different experience that are all valid and truthful. |
Can't comment on him being a good or bad human because i do not know him personally however as a coach he has a lot of room for improvement A LOT! He really should just leave now. Does he need help packing? |
What's wrong with his coaching? |
He doesn't coach the team. He just stands there while the team scrimmages. NO feedback is given to the kids unless there is another higher up coach present. If one of the higher ups show up he is all the sudden renagaged and seems to be alive. In the very very beginning he had drills and now he does absolutely nothing. When he announced he was leaving it all made sense. He has no interest in making the team better he is just trying to get a paycheck and the kids are the ones that are suffering because of this. He should do them a favor and just leave now. Practices should involve drills and real game scenarios. Practices should involve working on plays that they are having a hard time with in real games. Having the team scrimmage at low speed for the entire duration of the practice does nothing in terms of development. While I cant watch every practice because I have other kids to drive around the ones i have seen are a waste of time. If his goal is to get the kids uninterested in playing soccer he is doing a fantastic job. Overall very disappointed with his lack of coaching. Between him cancelling practices while other valor teams are out there practicing and the other half him just standing there, the team isn't developing and it is another year of watching the other teams we played against and were on par with get light years ahead of us. At this point we are jealous of the white team who seem to have a coach that likes to hold practices and actually works on drills. Personally my kid is slowly losing interest in playing because of this. We are hoping a new coach will respark the love but when they leave practice bored i can understand why they feel that way. We have had the new coach in HP elite and have heard very good things about him but is it worth it to risk another season here? We heard good things abut DS too and look where we are. Another year behind and nothing good to show for it. We are already signed up for tryouts with some of the other local teams and look forward to seeing how other teams play. I would assume many of the other parents are looking else where too. It is just sad at this point. |
Didn't the girls just win a tournament with DS? |
Tryout schedule is out.
Coaching slate is not. https://www.virginiavalorfc.org/boystryouts https://www.virginiavalorfc.org/girlstryouts |
You can criticize his absences (despite many for family reasons) I agree with that. However when he was at practice his practices were intense and his drills appropriate. His coaching at game sidelines was really good too. Sorry you missed the best of him. |
I think they did three tryout sessions per age group last year. Maybe that was overkill. |
When will they announce the coaches? |
Whenever they do... haha |
