in our experience, the top teams practice in the summer but there always seems to be some reason that the lower teams don't start until well into August. Maybe they are still hiring parent coaches.

Some of the teams still don't have enough players LOL. Maybe they are still scrounging up players.

Our parent coach last year started practices in July and set up a couple of scrimmages before the season started. Even if all coaches aren't assigned (which i doubt) the Lead coach for each age group could easily run some optional practices. Instead they will focus on their team and everyone else gets treated as less than.
