I remember seeing this somewhere last year too. It's not clear to me that they use the raw score even. Others have stated the test wasn't meant to be used that way. Further, this is just one criterion and although there are a handful of kids with remarkably high scores, there just aren't that many. Certainly not enough to fill the magnet program. |
I really have no personal knowledge but the person who posted sounded like a nosy nelly who has actual information. |
What’s your source for these “facts”? |
Nope. I have actual information and they are wrong. |
You have actual information of all the Blair admits this year? Are you a teacher? |
LOL sure it's a government coverup like Roswell! ![]() |
Evidently, the tinfoil hat is cutting off the circulation to their brain. |
300 m/260 r with strong ec |
I'm not seeing how you get 300 as a top score if your child hasn't taken upper level classes or they are taking the lower map test. |
What do you mean the lower map test? The map test everyone takes is map 6+. |
What stops your child from learning ahead? I never stop your child from soccer practice or basketball drills. Why my child with a passion in math can’t study ahead by himself? |
Co-signed. Which is why cogat is a better test. Yes it is gameable too but not nearly as so. |
Not really. CogAT is much easier to game than mastering years of math. |
I don't know about the PP's kid but I know one of mine knew how to factor quadratic or graph lines at 9. Some kids are into math and just pick it up. There are lots of free online resources like Khan academy for anyone who is interested. When DC was 11 they were scoring around 290. They weren't even in Algebra because we live in East county. |
Getting a high MAP M score is not about mastery. It is only about having exposure to material. That’s the point. |
