My current 8th grader did not make the cut to Blair (not even wait listed). My second kid in 7th grade would apply later this year, for those who have been admitted, is possible to share MAP-M score? This post talks about 300+ scores and are there kids with lower scores that have made the cut? My kid is not in that league currently.
The simple trick is to study ahead. This is just a test of whether the kid knows the material. Not of mathematical ability, mastery or even IQ. So for example if your kid does outside enrichment and stays ahead of what is being taught. Can get higher scores. Most of the 300+ kids do this. Anything above 268 or so is 99 percentile so shouldn’t matter but the test is being used for a purpose it is not meant for. Still better than nothing…but you won’t be able to get 300+ by mastering what is being taught. You have to absolutely study ahead.
Co-signed. Which is why cogat is a better test. Yes it is gameable too but not nearly as so.
Not really. CogAT is much easier to game than mastering years of math.
