So I voted for the first time in MD tonight

I as lived in Va for 15 years but when I was a md resident before I voted absentee. I get into line and tried to show my photo ID to the checkin person and she refused to even look at it. Just had me State my name DOB and address. She acted like a vampire around a crucifix with my ID. Seems very voter fraud friendly.

I disagree with this. I think you should have an ID to vote. It's not a good system when you can simply state anyone's name and address. OP, they refuse to see anyone's ID.

When she came to vote, you'd be discovered and they'd toss your ballot. Conversely, if you came saying you were her but she'd already voted, they'd deny you.

I agree. They asked me my name, address, and month/day of my birthdate. I could provide so many names, addresses and month/day of my friends. How is voter fraud prevented?

I am French and over there everyone is obligated by law to have a National Identity Card, even children. It is understood that not everyone will have a driver's license or passport, so a nationally recognized, secure ID with photograph is necessary for all official paperwork and voting.

I wish there was such a system here. Then there wouldn't be any accusations of fraud or laxity.

I too showed my ID, and the election official glanced at it and just mentioned she didn't need it. And if you couldn't speak, then clearly she would have looked at your documentation to make it easier for you. But you could speak, so she didn't.

But, many people do not choose to vote, so it's pretty easy to vote under someone else's name.

I have voted in Maryland for the past several years, and agree that they do NOT look at your ID at our polling place.

Do you know their DOB and party affiliation too? You do have to answer those questions.

They can challenge you and make you vote provisional. You still get your vote recorded but it goes through an extra verification process.
