| How did your kids turn out? I’m breastfeeding and want to smoke pot but there is no good research. Curious to hear from moms who’ve done it, years later what do you think? |
| Actually there is good (new) research. I will try to come back and link it, but check out the recent study done in Colorado. The long and short: it unequivocally is transferred through your milk, and in not insignificant amounts, and for many days after you've last ingested it. It's a hard no, and you cannot in good conscience pretend there's no good research or hunt for (subjective) anecdotes online, because we have the answers. Namely, it's not okay. |
| Yeah but what are the effects? Transferred in breast milk but is it bad? |
| Grow up, your not in a High School anymore. I know pots not a dangerous drug but almost everyone I know who smokes it is a boarder-line lousier not to mention what most people think of pit smokers. Your a mom now, time to grow up. |
| Sort of agree. You know how every time they do those news stories about legalizing pot all the smokers fit the same mold. |
no, what mold? Lots of diversity in cannabis use. |
There’s also research on the harm that marijuana does to the developing brain. No one could take that risk in good conscience. |
Pot messes up your brain. I watched a kid - with zero family history - become a paranoid schizophrenic within a couple of years of starting to smoke pot recreationally. When he has his worst episodes, they are always flashbacks to the time when he was smoking most heavily. He had a really bright future due to some natural talents he had, and now his future is totally gone. Now life for his family is about trying to keep him alive and stop him from hurting others. It's very, very sad. |
Would you allow your two year old to have a couple bites of edibles? Would you allow your 5 year old to vape? Your reasons for (hopefully...) saying 'of course not' are the exact same reasons you should not force consumption onto your infant. It affects brain development....this is a very clear cut "duh. NO." scenario |
...but very little diversity in the population of people who would even consider risking their child's health and wellbeing by exposing them directly, just so they can get high |
| Just use formula if you want to smoke. |
Hyperbolic arguments like this are not helpful because you lose all credibility. However, no, OP, do not smoke and breastfeed. Choose one or the other. |
+1. Excellent way to put it. |

Np
Yes, op, please grow up. Thc can trigger schizophrenia in the developing brain. That, alone, should stop you. It can trigger executive functioning issues later in life That, alone, should stop you. It can trigger behavioral problems. That, alone, should stop you. |
Enough. You chose to bring a child into this world. Even if it didn't transfer, a stoned person is not capable of taking care of a child, especially not a nursing baby. If you are so stressed that you want to get stoned, please make an appointment to talk to your doctor about PPD. |
